CARRASCO, a wholly owned water service provider (WSP) subsidiary of the Nakuru County Government, delivers essential water and sanitation services across seven (7) sub-counties, serving a population of 1.1 million as per the 2019 census. The Board of Directors seeks to appoint a Managing Director who embodies a customer-focused approach, possesses the necessary qualifications, and brings a wealth of relevant experience to drive the company’s success. This role demands a proactive and results-driven leader capable of providing clear strategic guidance to ensure the company fulfills its objectives in a manner that satisfies all stakeholders.

Promoting the company’s reputation, cultivating strong collaborative ties with stakeholders and partners, and upholding the principles of effective corporate governance within the organization.

Providing strategic guidance to the Board of Directors regarding operational decisions, investment strategies, and the long-term sustainable growth of the company’s interests.

Terms of employment involve a five-year contract, subject to renewal once based on performance reviews.

Seeking a qualified candidate who meets the following essential requirements: a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and proficiency in industry-standard software tools. The ideal applicant must demonstrate strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of delivering results under tight deadlines. Proficiency in written and verbal communication, as well as the capacity to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, is also mandatory. Additionally, candidates should possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel as needed to support field operations.

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria to be considered for the position:

As a qualified candidate, you must hold Kenyan citizenship.

A recognized institution must confer a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, water or wastewater engineering, environmental science, business administration, or a closely related discipline.

A recognized institution must offer a leadership or senior management course lasting a minimum of four weeks.

Professional certification and active membership in a pertinent professional organization, maintaining good standing, are required.

Seeking candidates with at least twelve years of professional experience, including seven in a senior management capacity within Kenya’s water sector.

Highly developed communication and presentation skills are essential, along with strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational abilities, and proven team leadership capabilities, all underpinned by unwavering professional ethical standards.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate unwavering integrity and comply with the stipulations outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. Applicants are required to submit the following documents: clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), Higher Education Loans Board (HELD), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACH), and a Certificate of Good Conduct.

Must possess the ability to secure and deploy financial resources effectively to support project execution.

Possesses comprehensive knowledge of Water Sector Management, particularly within the context of donor-funded projects, and exhibits strong financial management capabilities.
