Wetlands International is a globally recognized, independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of wetlands and their resources for the benefit of both people and biodiversity. Supported by a diverse coalition of government and NGO members worldwide, we operate across developing and developed regions, maintaining 20 regional, national, and project offices spanning all continents, with our headquarters located in Ede, the Netherlands (refer to our office locations map).
Addressing Critical Challenges
With operations in over 100 countries and at various scales, Wetlands International tackles some of the most urgent issues impacting wetlands. Backed by numerous governmental, NGO, and corporate donors and partners, we execute more than 100 projects, ranging from in-depth research and community-driven field initiatives to advocacy efforts targeting governments, businesses, and international policy forums and conventions. Our approach is rooted in collaboration, leveraging the expertise of a vast network of specialists and the dedication of tens of thousands of volunteers.
Scientific Leadership
Wetlands International leads globally in key thematic areas, notably as the foremost authority on peatlands and climate change, as well as wetlands and waterbird migration. Our expertise is underpinned by rigorous research and hands-on field projects conducted worldwide.
