"Join us in advancing human rights for persons with psychosocial disabilities."
Users and Survivors of Psychiatry in Kenya (USP Kenya) invites members of the public and key stakeholders to collaborate in advancing the human rights discourse for individuals with psychosocial disabilities. This initiative aligns with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which Kenya adopted in 2008. The CRPD presents significant opportunities for persons with psychosocial disabilities in Kenya by equipping policymakers, lawmakers, and implementers with progressive tools to promote their rights. The convention’s transformative approach shifts the focus from viewing persons with disabilities as passive recipients of care to acknowledging them as empowered individuals, restoring their autonomy, agency, and dignity while fostering pathways to independent living and meaningful participation in society.
