About ICT Authority

The ICT Authority is a government agency operating under the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Technology. Established in August 2013, it serves as the central body responsible for optimizing and consolidating the management of Kenya’s ICT resources and services. The Authority’s responsibilities include enforcing ICT standards across government institutions and overseeing electronic communications to ensure compliance and efficiency. Additionally, it fosters ICT literacy, strengthens capacity, drives innovation, and supports enterprise development in alignment with the Kenya National ICT Master plan 2017.

The ICT Authority is mandated to:
– Establish and enforce ICT standards for human resources, infrastructure, processes, systems, and technology across public offices and services.
– Recruit, deploy, and manage ICT personnel within the public service.
– Support and regulate the design, implementation, and utilization of ICT solutions in government operations.
– Enhance ICT literacy and professional development within the public sector.
– Advance the adoption of e-Government services.
– Optimize the use of electronic formats, records, and equipment in public service delivery.
– Drive ICT innovation and entrepreneurship.
– Develop and maintain secure ICT infrastructure and systems.
– Supervise the execution of critical ICT projects across government agencies.
– Implement and manage the Kenya National Spatial Data Initiative.
