"A century-old multi-specialty hospital founded in 1915."
AIC Hijab, established in 1915 as a small outpatient clinic within the Rift Valley Academy, was originally known as Theodora Hospital. In May 2015, the hospital marked its centenary, evolving into a modern, multi-specialty facility with a bed capacity of 363. Today, it serves patients from across Kenya and beyond, including other African nations. As a faith-based institution sponsored by the Africa Inland Church, Kenya, Hijab Hospital (KM) has recently been designated as a Level 6B National Tertiary Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The hospital’s mission is to honor God through compassionate healthcare, excellence in training, and spiritual ministry grounded in the teachings of Christ Jesus. Over the years, AIC Hijab has undergone significant growth and transformation, now employing over 900 staff while maintaining a balanced approach between Kenyan and missionary consultants. In particular, missionary doctors contribute to making patient fees more affordable, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to accessible, high-quality care.
