As a CI Research Associate within DAKOTA’s Customer Intelligence team, you will hold an entry-to-mid-level position focused on conducting research that drives UX and product development. In this role, you will contribute to the full research cycle—from study design to insight delivery—while collaborating closely with senior researchers and cross-functional stakeholders. This position involves executing practical research on live products, directly impacting real customers whose financial well-being relies on seamless, functional experiences.
This hybrid position requires working from our Kenya offices while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of professionals across our operations in the UK, Europe, and Africa. In this role, you will report directly to the Research Operations Lead.

What You’ll be doing
Convene moderated usability tests, semi-structured interviews, and surveys while overseeing the complete lifecycle of fieldwork logistics, whether sessions are conducted remotely or in person, and implement measures from the outset to guarantee sessions are structured for optimal data quality.
Transforming qualitative data through coding and synthesis within established frameworks, you will develop affinity maps, insight lists, and structured reports that convert findings into concise, actionable deliverables for your team and stakeholders.
Contributing to established team research processes, proactively identifying ambiguities in briefs, and utilizing AI-assisted tools—such as Claude and Notion AI—while exercising discernment to determine when human review is necessary.
What You’ll bring
Proven expertise in UX research methodologies, such as moderated usability testing, semi-structured interviewing, and survey design, along with a strategic understanding of method selection based on context and objectives.
Demonstrates strong proficiency in analyzing qualitative data, including coding responses, discerning recurring themes, and creating synthesized deliverables—such as affinity maps and insight summaries—through a systematic and disciplined methodology.
Possesses a solid understanding of DAKOTA’s target markets or the broader landscape of first-time digital financial services users, coupled with a strong interest in addressing the usability challenges inherent in this domain.
