The Opportunity

Plan International seeks a seasoned and driven Deployable Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Gender in Emergencies Specialist to strengthen our global Core Surge Team.

In this position, you will be required to swiftly mobilize to global humanitarian emergencies—frequently within a 72-hour timeframe—to deliver strategic technical guidance and integrate gender equality, inclusion, and protection against gender-based violence (GBV) as key priorities in our emergency interventions.

At the core of crisis response efforts, you will provide essential assistance to country teams, ensuring the successful implementation of gender-transformative programs that effectively address the needs of girls, young people, and other vulnerable populations while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

What You’ll Be Doing

Providing strategic technical direction and overseeing program execution are core responsibilities of this role. The position demands extensive experience in technology leadership, coupled with expertise in program management methodologies. Key duties include guiding cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and driving innovation through robust technical solutions. Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record in delivering complex projects, strong problem-solving abilities, and exceptional communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in industry-standard tools and frameworks, as well as a deep understanding of emerging technologies, is essential for success in this position.

Spearhead and enhance the implementation of gender-based violence (GBV) initiatives, with a specific focus on supporting child and adolescent survivors.

Ensure that gender considerations are systematically integrated into all humanitarian initiatives.

Offer specialized advisory services in strict accordance with internationally recognized benchmarks, including those established by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee, the Minimum Standards for Gender-Based Violence, the Sphere Project, and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse protocols.

Conduct thorough analysis and provide timely emergency response to identify and mitigate potential risks and threats.

Perform Rapid Gender Analysis (RGA) assessments in acute humanitarian emergencies to identify and address gender-specific needs, risks, and gaps.

Assist in conducting comprehensive needs assessments across various sectors to identify critical gaps and priorities.

Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership regarding the integration of gender-responsive initiatives into organizational programming.

Professionals with extensive expertise in gender-based violence (GBV) initiatives, particularly those focused on children, within humanitarian settings are encouraged to apply.

Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills

Fluent English skills are mandatory, while strong working knowledge of French is required; additional proficiency in Spanish or Arabic would be considered advantageous.
