Role Description
The Senior Associate, Investments will be instrumental in crafting and implementing strategic asset allocation strategies spanning diverse asset classes. This role demands a seasoned investment professional equipped with robust quantitative skills, extensive market expertise, and the capacity to convert intricate analytical findings into practical investment strategies. Oversee and execute critical responsibilities central to the role, including analyzing operational data to identify trends, developing strategies to enhance efficiency, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement solutions. Lead projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability. Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative research to design tailored strategic asset allocation frameworks. Assess prevailing market conditions, economic trends, and risk exposures to guide allocation choices across equity, fixed income, and alternative asset classes.
Execute trades across various asset classes, including equities (local, East African, African, and global markets), fixed income instruments, private debt/equity, Rests, FX, and derivatives. Focus on achieving optimal execution while effectively managing transaction costs and market impact.
Construct multi-asset portfolios and refine them through quantitative models and optimization methods. Develop and execute rebalancing strategies, oversee cash flow management, and maintain strict adherence to client mandates and defined risk parameters.
Conduct comprehensive analysis of equity markets, alternative investments, and macroeconomic trends to develop well-founded investment research. Formulate strategic investment ideas and supporting theses to guide portfolio decisions and uncover new opportunities.
Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations to both internal and external investment committees, clearly articulating the investment rationale, associated risks, and portfolio performance with accuracy and clarity.
Monitor portfolio risk exposures, analyze potential scenarios, and deploy effective risk mitigation measures. Verify that portfolios adhere to established risk tolerances and comply with all relevant regulatory standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments, including Operations, Compliance, and Distribution, to foster alignment and synergy. Engage with key stakeholders through clear and concise communication to facilitate the smooth implementation of investment strategies.
Performance Reporting – Assist in conducting performance attribution analysis and compiling client reports. Monitor portfolio metrics, compare them against benchmarks, and deliver insights to enhance client communications.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A minimum of five years of experience in software engineering or a related discipline is necessary. Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are also critical. Experience with Agile methodologies and version control systems like Git is preferred.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative discipline is a mandatory requirement for this position.
A CFA Charter holder or candidate advancing toward the CFA designation is preferred.
Experience
With a minimum of five years of hands-on involvement in investment research, trading, portfolio management, or closely related capacities, the ideal candidate will bring substantial expertise to the role.
