The AI Learning Specialist will be instrumental in strengthening the IRC’s ability to deploy AI tools responsibly and effectively throughout its worldwide operations. In partnership with the Learning & Development Team and AI Task Forces, this position will create, refine, and implement robust learning solutions that empower staff to adopt AI tools with confidence and ethical awareness. By adopting a holistic learning approach, the specialist will engage with teams to assess current workflows and systems, pinpoint performance gaps, and design targeted solutions tailored to specific contexts. Deliverables will include integrated learning experiences within workflows, interactive live training sessions, and multilingual resources—encompassing e-learning modules, bite-sized microlearning, practical job aids, and reference guides—to support technical personnel, program teams, and leadership across field offices and headquarters.

The preferred applicant possesses extensive expertise in generative AI capabilities, paired with robust instructional design skills and a sincere dedication to fostering capacity within international development contexts. Ensure all instructional materials align with adult learning methodologies and, when necessary, are tailored for low-bandwidth settings and translated into core IRC languages.

Integrate principles of responsible AI utilization, data safeguarding, and ethical considerations into every aspect of the learning materials development process.

Promote understanding of the risks, limitations, and responsible applications of artificial intelligence within humanitarian settings.

Upskilling initiatives focus on enhancing skills related to delivery and facilitation to ensure optimal performance and continuous improvement in these areas. This role involves developing and implementing training programs aimed at improving proficiency in delivery methodologies and facilitation techniques. Work collaboratively with IT, Data, and other technical teams to maintain awareness of AI tool implementations and updates, identifying strategic points to integrate learning touchpoints within technology platforms.

To cultivate a cadre of “learner-teachers” spanning various departments and managerial levels, equip them with practical AI competencies, ingrained practices, and standardized terminology.

The role focuses on leveraging learning analytics to drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring data-driven enhancements to training programs and educational outcomes. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting learning data to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and recommend strategic improvements. Requirements:

With a minimum of four to six years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, or training delivery, candidates should demonstrate a strong background in these fields.

Professionals should possess advanced proficiency in leveraging generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot, with expertise in prompt engineering, AI-assisted content development, seamless AI workflow integration, and a comprehensive understanding of AI capabilities and inherent limitations.

Proven expertise in developing and implementing upskilling initiatives through diverse formats, such as e-learning modules and digital learning resources.

Candidates with a background in international development, humanitarian efforts, or nonprofit organizations will be given priority consideration.
