Swiss contact Kenya functions as the regional headquarters for the CESAR region and the central operational center for programs in Kenya. With over two decades of experience, the organization has empowered young individuals through initiatives such as entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, market-oriented skills training, and sustainable development projects. Presently, Swiss contact is executing a broad range of initiatives across sectors including Agribusiness, Eye Healthcare, Digital Skills, Green Skills, and E-Mobility entrepreneurship. Notable among these is the Propel initiative, which is dedicated to enhancing youth skills development, facilitating employment, and fostering entrepreneurship in trades such as electrical work, plumbing, and lift mechanics.

General Position Summary

The Project Officer will play a key role in advancing the Future Fit Project by facilitating the successful execution of high-quality initiatives spanning digital skills, green skills (with an emphasis on e-mobility), youth entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities. This position will deliver operational, coordination, and technical support to guarantee the timely completion of project deliverables, adherence to scope, and compliance with donor, partner, and organizational standards.

This role demands an individual who demonstrates proactive problem-solving skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and meticulous attention to detail. The successful applicant must proficiently manage project support alongside various administrative responsibilities.

This position is located in Nairobi, Kenya, and requires travel to various field locations for up to 30% of the duration.

Crucial duties include developing and implementing strategic plans, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. Support the day-to-day execution of project activities in digital skills and green/e-mobility skills, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.

Collaborate with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, private sector partners, and financial institutions to streamline project activities.

Help develop and coordinate training initiatives, workshops, apprenticeship programs, curriculum development sessions, and stakeholder meetings by assisting in planning, scheduling, and organizational tasks.

Ensure all action points generated from meetings and field activities are addressed promptly and efficiently.

Assist in the creation and refinement of project ideas, intervention approaches, and documentation of outcomes.

Integrate sustainability and market systems development principles comprehensively into all project activities to ensure alignment and effectiveness.

Collaborate with partners to develop operational plans, ensure quality assurance, and evaluate impact.

We oversee the ongoing assessment and analysis of programs to ensure they meet established goals and deliver intended outcomes. This role involves tracking progress, collecting and interpreting data, and identifying trends to inform strategic decisions. Key responsibilities include designing evaluation frameworks, implementing monitoring systems, and producing reports that highlight findings, challenges, and recommendations for improvement. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management tools, and experience in M&E methodologies. Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research techniques, along with the ability to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders, is essential.

Partner with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist to design monitoring tools and measure impact outcomes.

Routine oversight of project activities, deliverables, and performance indicators will be conducted in alignment with the established Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework.

Contribute to the acquisition, structuring, and verification of both quantitative and qualitative data obtained from partners, service providers, and beneficiaries.

Compile data and information required for compiling project reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual submissions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness to support decision-making processes.

Facilitate the documentation of learning outcomes, success narratives, and proven best practices derived from implementation efforts.

Effective stakeholder management involves fostering strong relationships with key individuals or groups who can influence or are impacted by your projects or initiatives. This role requires proactive communication, negotiation skills, and the ability to align diverse interests with organizational goals. Responsibilities include identifying stakeholders, assessing their influence and interest levels, developing tailored engagement strategies, and maintaining ongoing dialogue to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed. Collaborate with private sector stakeholders, including e-mobility enterprises, digital technology firms, and financial institutions, to facilitate apprenticeships, test innovative training frameworks, and establish pathways for youth employment.

Collaborate with key ecosystem stakeholders, including industry associations and innovation partners, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of efforts.

Develop and sustain robust partnerships with key project stakeholders, encompassing government entities, private sector collaborators, non-governmental organizations, and community groups.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project partners to ensure alignment and shared understanding of project goals and progress.

Explore potential partnerships and innovative initiatives aligned with the Future Fit project to drive growth and advancement.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, along with at least five years of professional experience in a comparable role. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in industry-standard software are essential. Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, are necessary to collaborate effectively with stakeholders. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of achieving measurable results in previous positions.

A bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Education, Economics, Business, Engineering, ICT, or a closely related discipline is required.

Proficiency in implementing donor-funded initiatives and adhering to results-based project management methodologies is required.

Minimum of two to three years of hands-on professional experience in roles that support development initiatives, with a focus on youth employment, technical and vocational education and training (VET), digital skills, green skills, or entrepreneurship programs within NGOs, public sector organizations, or private enterprises.

Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities are required to effectively manage and prioritize multiple project responsibilities.

A proven track record collaborating with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, private sector stakeholders, or youth-oriented programs is strongly preferred.

Professional certification in project management or monitoring and evaluation is highly beneficial.

Proficient in strategic planning, problem-solving, and analytical thinking, with a strong ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational growth.
