Job Purpose

The Managing Director & CEO will oversee the strategic planning, design, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of a high voltage electricity transmission grid and regional power interconnectors.

The role also reports to the Board of Directors, overseeing the formulation and execution of the Company’s strategic direction, vision, mission, and objectives. Additionally, it involves mobilizing and managing resources effectively, guiding leadership initiatives, and ensuring alignment with the Company’s mandate as outlined in Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2004 on Energy, the Energy Act No. 1 of 2019, and the State Corporations Act, Cap 446.

Oversee and execute core duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership to drive organizational objectives forward. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and workflows that enhance efficiency, compliance, and performance across departments. Monitor progress through data analysis, performance metrics, and regular evaluations to identify areas for improvement and innovation. Foster a collaborative work environment by mentoring staff, delegating tasks appropriately, and promoting professional development opportunities. Ensure adherence to industry regulations, safety standards, and ethical guidelines while maintaining open communication with stakeholders. Manage budgets, resources, and project timelines to optimize productivity and deliver measurable results within established parameters.

Offering strategic direction and guidance to senior leadership and staff members,

Supervising the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage electricity transmission grids and regional power interconnectors is a key responsibility.

Facilitating the growth of national and regional energy trade to bolster socio-economic advancement is a key responsibility.

Delivering strategic leadership and operational management for the Company, in alignment with the Board’s directives, serves as the primary responsibility.

Supervising the execution of all Government Directs, Administrative Circulars, and

Executive Orders pertinent to the Company’s mandate are issued and enforced.

Ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements throughout the formulation, development, and execution of strategic objectives, policies, and plans is essential.

Cultivating strategic alliances across the business landscape, including Regulators, Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Development Partners, and both national and international stakeholders, forms a key component of this role.

Responsible for managing the acquisition of goods, execution of works, provision of services, inventory control, and asset disposal, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

To secure and deploy resources essential for advancing the Company’s Strategic Plan, leveraging the Exchequer, Development Finance Institutions, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), and other innovative funding mechanisms.

The responsibility encompasses supervising the execution of innovative revenue streams and business prospects within the organization.

Providing strategic counsel to the Board of Directors regarding business ventures aimed at bolstering the Company’s expansion and long-term viability is a primary responsibility.

Designing and executing transparent, equitable Human Resource policies and organizational frameworks while instituting a robust succession planning process.

Ensuring the effective execution of corruption prevention measures by applying established policies and preparing submissions for the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACH).

Effective corporate risk management, quality assurance oversight, and the implementation of robust internal controls are critical responsibilities of this role.

Actively cultivating and upholding a strong, favorable corporate image is a key responsibility, ensuring alignment with the organization’s values and strategic objectives.

Formulating, executing, and overseeing the Strategic Plan, Business Strategies, and tariff revenue requirements to ensure full alignment with both the Company’s short-term and long-term objectives.

Maintaining a thorough understanding of the markets and industry in which the Company operates is essential to identifying and capitalizing on strategic opportunities. This role requires continuous research and analysis to stay ahead of market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging developments, enabling informed decision-making and driving sustainable growth.

Business and investment landscapes are evolving, offering new prospects and avenues for growth and financial engagement.

Craft and maintain the annual budget, procurement plan, work plan, and performance contract in strict alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives and overarching priorities to ensure cohesive operational direction and measurable outcomes.

Maintaining precise financial and accounting records in full compliance with applicable laws is essential for the Company.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications in cybersecurity, such as CISSP or Compton Security+, are highly desirable. A minimum of five years of experience in information security, risk management, or a related area is necessary. Proficiency in security frameworks like NIST or ISO 27001 is essential. Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex security scenarios are critical. Excellent communication abilities to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders are also required.

Candidates must hold a relevant academic qualification, such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a pertinent field, to be considered for this position.

A master’s degree from an accredited university is required.

Earned a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.

Membership in relevant professional bodies and possession of professional qualifications are essential prerequisites for this role.

Membership in a relevant professional organization, when applicable, and maintaining good standing within that body are required.

A current and valid practicing certificate or license, where applicable.

A recognized institution must issue a Leadership course certificate, which requires a minimum duration of four weeks.

Extensive experience and strong proficiency with office automation software suites are required.

Experienced professionals with a demonstrated background in relevant fields are encouraged to apply.
