Senior Journalist, Investigations

Role Responsibility
Reporting to the Investigations Editor, your role will be to originate and produce long-form investigative documentaries from Nairobi.  Working closely with the Investigations Unit, you will develop impactful investigative stories, making full use of your network of contributors and BBC Africa colleagues.  You will develop ideas to be made into documentaries and digital documentaries, relevant for a sub-Sahara African audience.  You will be expected to oversee and develop other journalists in the team and deputise for the Editor from time to time.  In addition you will manage the deployment of teams into hostile environments.

Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will have an excellent track record of delivering high impact TV (30 minutes and 1 hour) documentaries, investigations and knowledge of different investigative approaches.  You must be a fluent English speaker, with first class knowledge of African news and global current affairs.  You will have a track record of work in sub-Saharan Africa, with extensive experience working on African content.  A background in developing outstanding digital and TV content is essential.  You will also have experience of leading a team of journalists.
