This senior position is entrusted with overseeing the seamless and successful execution of a varied portfolio of programs, steering a cross-functional team while collaborating with international partners to drive high-caliber research outcomes. Key responsibilities encompass overseeing and executing critical tasks to ensure operational efficiency and project success. This role involves managing workflows, coordinating team efforts, and maintaining high standards of performance across assigned projects. Additionally, the position requires monitoring progress, addressing challenges proactively, and delivering measurable results in alignment with organizational goals. Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and adaptability are essential to drive continuous improvement and meet evolving business demands.

LSTM collaborates with government agencies, funders, research partners, and regional and international stakeholders to ensure effective representation and alignment with shared objectives.

Serve as a senior operational liaison, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration between internal teams and external partners.

Devise comprehensive program key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish robust performance management frameworks to systematically evaluate and enhance program outcomes.

Assist in developing and implementing organizational design initiatives, workforce planning strategies, and governance frameworks to enhance operational efficiency and alignment with strategic objectives.

Ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and data governance policies throughout organizational operations.

Conduct project meetings while actively participating in steering committees to ensure alignment and progress.

The position involves managing the financial aspects of research grants, including the development and maintenance of budgets, preparation of financial forecasts, and generation of comprehensive financial reports.

Establish uniform program management standards, tools, and processes across LSTM Kenya, ensuring consistency and scalability.

Responsibilities include supervising project schedules to guarantee timely completion, adherence to quality standards, and adherence to allocated financial resources.

Ensure adherence to all donor stipulations and maintain a state of preparedness for audits at all times.

You should exhibit strong proficiency in the following areas:

A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in the relevant field is required.

Seasoned expertise in program and project management, complemented by a robust academic and professional background, is essential for this role. Candidates must possess a proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex initiatives within specified timelines and budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership capabilities are required to oversee cross-functional teams, mitigate risks, and drive performance improvements. Familiarity with industry-standard methodologies, tools, and frameworks—such as Agile, PRINCE2, or PMI—is highly advantageous, along with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to foster collaboration and transparency.

Proven track record in overseeing extensive research initiatives that span multiple partners or countries within the health research domain is essential.

Accomplished in overseeing the administrative operations of clinical trials and research initiatives.

Proficiency in quality assurance methodologies applied to a diverse range of projects is essential.

Professional experience in health research environments, particularly within Kenya or comparable settings, is essential.

Achieved a strong track record of overseeing research grants within academic institutions, clinical environments, or nongovernmental organizations.

Demonstrates a track record of effectively leading and managing teams, showcasing robust leadership capabilities and a proven ability to guide personnel toward shared objectives.
