Based in Dagahaley Refugee Camp
Project Summary: The objective of our project is to provide primary and secondary level of health care to the Refugees in Dagahaley refugee camp. MSF provides a full package of medical care through 2 primary health care units and 1 hospital (100 beds) with 24 hour emergency and OT.
Health services include curative, preventative, nutritional activities and emergency preparedness and intervention with partners.
The selected candidate will be reporting directly to the Project Head Nurse.
Start date: Immediately

Contract duration: 12 months fixed term contract with possibility of extension based on performance (includes 3 month probationary period)
The Job Activities include but are not limited to;

Carry out the functions and tasks associated to his/her speciality, i.e. perform as a nurse, midwife, labtech and anaesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
Carry out and/or supervise the ( decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
First foremost, the team supervisor is a nurse or midwife, thus is able to ensure the function of nurse or midwife (refer to it) and to help when there is a need for it in the ward
Daily management of his/her team utilizing a prioritized work plan as a supervision tool
Maintain the RH database of all ANC,PNC,FP patients and continuously update all the information therein.
Participate in the interdepartmental meetings with outreach and maternity in order to complete the RH action plans.
Maintain the High Risk database, take part in all the High Risk Clinics and give feedback to the Nursing Director, NAM, HD, Head Of Outreach and MTL.
As the RH focal person, represent MSF in RH and SV coordination meetings with other agencies
Supervise and/or carry out efficiently the pharmacy and medical equipment management: drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption.
Actively monitor and report medical activities (correctly fill in patient files, forms, statistics, reports) and analyse these statistics.
Report immediately to the technical referent any problem arising in the service, especially the loss / robbery / damage of medical equipment or medicines.
Support other MSF department when and where necessary.

Requirements

Education: Specialty (nurse or midwife) diploma essential
Experience: Essential 2 years of previous experience having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable.
Languages: Essential mission and local language (English and Kiswahili)
Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
