Job Objective/Purpose

To oversee and execute vaccination initiatives for school-aged children and hospital staff, while ensuring learner engagement in immunization services, this role is responsible for delivering safe, ethical, and compliant vaccinations in alignment with Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines, occupational health regulations, and hospital protocols.

Oversee and execute critical duties that drive operational efficiency and project success, including strategic planning, team leadership, and performance monitoring to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize workflows, mitigate risks, and enhance productivity across departments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements, innovation, and sustainable growth. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide data-driven insights to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making. Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and accountability at all levels. Lead initiatives that foster a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and professional development within the organization.

Develop, manage, and supervise vaccination initiatives specifically targeting school-age children, both within the hospital premises and at designated outreach locations.

Collaborate with educational institutions, families, and public health authorities to align vaccination plans and secure necessary consents.

Administer vaccinations in a manner that is safe, age-appropriate, and engaging for children.

Responsible for the supervision and management of cold chain operations, including the proper storage, handling, and accountability of vaccines.

Monitor and evaluate vaccine coverage, utilization rates, and wastage to ensure efficient distribution and administration. Additionally, track and report any Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEF) to maintain safety and compliance with health regulations.

Maintain precise records, reports, and follow-up procedures for all vaccination-related activities.

Collaborate with HR and Occupational Health to plan, implement, and manage employee vaccination programs effectively.

Fulfill all requirements outlined by the Ministry of Health (MOH) regarding recommended staff immunizations to ensure full compliance with established guidelines.

Responsible for safeguarding and managing confidential employee vaccination records and reports with strict adherence to privacy protocols.

Facilitate comprehensive vaccination programs for employees, encompassing pre-employment screenings, routine health maintenance, and outbreak response measures to ensure a safe and compliant workforce.

Deliver vaccine education and counseling sessions to employees and relevant stakeholders as needed.

Strict enforcement of child safeguarding policies must be maintained throughout all vaccination-related activities conducted within the school environment.

Ensure that informed consent is secured before initiating any vaccination procedures.

Maintain the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of individuals while ensuring their safety throughout the vaccine administration process.

Record and oversee vaccination-related incidents, adverse events following immunization (Aegis), and safeguarding issues, ensuring prompt and thorough documentation and resolution.

Facilitate collaborative communication and coordination with the Ministry of Health, County Health officials, educational institutions, and internal teams regarding immunization programs.

Draft compliance, performance, and regulatory reports focused on vaccination initiatives to ensure alignment with established standards and regulatory expectations.

Facilitate audits, inspections, and accreditation processes associated with immunization services to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Person Specification

A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related healthcare discipline is required for this position.

A current Nursing Council of Kenya registration is required.

Updated Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.

ATLS certification will be an added advantage

Three years or more of professional experience within a hospital environment is required.

Proficiency in managing hospital-based chronic care programs is highly desirable.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
