Job Summary

Our esteemed hospitality client seeks a diligent and committed Kitchen Steward to bolster their back-of-house operations. This position entails upholding stringent cleanliness and sanitation protocols throughout the kitchen, meticulously washing dishes and culinary equipment, managing waste disposal, and adhering to rigorous food safety and hygiene guidelines within a dynamic five-star hospitality setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, physical stamina, keen attention to detail, and the ability to perform efficiently under pressure in a high-standard hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

Promptly and efficiently wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.

Ensure that kitchen floors, walls, workstations, storage areas, and food preparation surfaces are consistently kept clean and sanitized.

Responsibilities include maintaining proper handling, storage, and organization of kitchen equipment and supplies to ensure efficiency and compliance with safety standards.

Provide assistance to chefs and kitchen personnel with fundamental food preparation tasks and operational duties as needed.

Collect and remove waste materials in strict adherence to established hygiene and safety protocols to ensure a clean and compliant work environment.

Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of garbage collection areas consistently.

Ensure the replenishment of cleaning supplies and promptly inform supervisors regarding any shortages in inventory.

Efficiently and safely manage dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment to maintain optimal performance and hygiene standards.

Ensure strict adherence to all standards governing food safety, health, sanitation, and workplace safety protocols.

Provide support to ensure cleanliness is maintained during conferences, banquets, and other large-scale events.

Maintain adherence to the five-star hospitality cleanliness and presentation standards.

Address cleaning requests from the kitchen and food & beverage teams without delay to ensure timely resolution.

Assist in the implementation of comprehensive deep cleaning schedules and ongoing kitchen maintenance tasks to ensure optimal cleanliness and operational efficiency. Contribute to the planning and execution of routine maintenance activities to uphold hygiene standards and equipment functionality.

We seek a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are also required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

A hospitality diploma or certificate is required for this position.

A certification in Food Production, Hospitality, or a closely related discipline would be highly beneficial.

A minimum of one to two years of hands-on experience as a Kitchen Steward in a hotel, restaurant, or hospitality setting is essential.

Proficiency in settings characterized by high-volume operations or distinguished five-star hospitality environments is strongly preferred.

Proficiency in food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and hygiene standards is required.

Proficient in safely handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Maintains physical fitness and endurance to support prolonged periods of standing throughout the workday.

Exceptional interpersonal abilities and collaborative aptitude are essential, along with clear and effective communication skills.

Demonstrated flexibility to accommodate varying shift schedules, including weekends and holidays, is essential.
