What You’ll Do

At DAKOTA, you will take charge of the AI Operations team from the outset, overseeing its delivery, expanding its capabilities, and demonstrating its impact. Your team will develop automation solutions and AI agents for internal applications while serving as trusted advisors to Engineering, facilitating the integration of AI into customer-facing products. Join us in merging innovative AI technologies with mission-driven initiatives to drive digital and financial inclusion across Africa.

Key duties involve overseeing daily operations, ensuring seamless workflows, maintaining high standards of quality, and fostering a productive team environment. You will be tasked with implementing strategic initiatives, managing resources efficiently, and driving continuous improvement across all projects. Regular performance evaluations, report generation, and stakeholder communication will form a critical part of your role to align with organizational objectives. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for innovation and process optimization while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Oversee a team of two AI Ops Engineers, taking full responsibility for their project delivery, technical growth, and daily operational tasks.

Efficiently prioritize tasks by adeptly managing competing requests from diverse teams, employing a structured prioritization framework you will both develop and refine.

Develop and deploy automation solutions and intelligent agents designed to enhance operational efficiency for both internal teams and customer-facing personnel.

Maintain the robustness and efficiency of the AI tooling infrastructure to accommodate its expanding usage by over 2,500 employees.

To maintain awareness of the latest AI tools and technologies, evaluate their practical applications and distinguish between overhyped trends and genuinely valuable innovations.

Assist in enhancing AI training initiatives across the broader organization, particularly for Engineering teams.

The technical environment encompasses a range of systems, tools, and platforms that support the development, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions. This includes operating systems, programming languages, databases, frameworks, and cloud infrastructure. Proficiency in these technologies is essential for designing, implementing, and optimizing efficient and scalable applications. Additionally, familiarity with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices is required to ensure seamless integration and continuous delivery of high-quality software.

We seek expertise in advanced AI and agentic frameworks, including but not limited to Claude, Claude Code, Anthropic tooling, Lang Chain, MCP, and Google ADK (or comparable agentic solutions).

Automation and prototyping encompass scripting, workflow tools, AI-assisted development, and rapid prototyping solutions, including platforms like Tercel and Railway.

Enterprise Tooling encompasses identity automation solutions through Microsoft Entra, development and maintenance of internal platforms, management of Notion for documentation and collaboration, and integration of HiBob for HR and workforce management processes.

Twelve months’ worth of automations built with Claude, Notion, HiBob, and Entry have already been deployed to production environments.

Our Approach

Here’s the paragraph:

Join our dynamic team where action takes precedence over mere consultation—here, we don’t just recommend solutions; we develop and deploy fully operational automations and agents to drive tangible results.

Demonstrate tangible value initially, followed by scalable expansion, commencing with a team of two engineers to illustrate impact, then building upon that foundation.

Maintain a product-centric approach by prioritizing the needs of internal teams as key customers and developing efficient, user-friendly tools that deliver measurable value.

Assess emerging AI tools based on their tangible benefits rather than their promotional claims.

What You Need

We seek a technically adept, product-driven professional to design and implement intelligent solutions. Rather than developing models—handled by our dedicated Data Science teams—you will engineer autonomous agents, deploy automation workflows, and oversee a team tasked with optimizing M-KOPA’s operational efficiency and speed.

Required Experience: A minimum of five years in a related field is necessary, with at least three years in a leadership or supervisory role. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities are also required to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders.

Acquire practical expertise in creating automation solutions, encompassing scripting, workflow tools, and AI-driven development methodologies.

Proven expertise in developing agents with agentic frameworks such as Lang Chain, MCP, Google ADK, or comparable tools is essential.

Individuals with prior experience in enterprise tooling—including rapid prototyping solutions such as Tercel or Railway, identity automation platforms like Entry, or custom internal platforms—are encouraged to apply.

You possess a proven track record in team leadership, having successfully guided engineers or served as a mentor and are fully accountable for the delivery and growth of a team.
