What You’ll Do

At DAKOTA, you will immediately assume leadership of the AI Operations team, taking full ownership of its delivery, strategic expansion, and impact. This role involves developing innovative automations and intelligent agents for internal systems while providing expert guidance to Engineering teams to enhance customer-facing AI solutions. Embrace the opportunity to merge advanced AI technologies with meaningful initiatives that advance digital and financial inclusion throughout Africa.

Key duties include managing project timelines and ensuring deliverables meet specified standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, address any challenges, and provide progress updates to stakeholders. Responsibilities extend to analyzing data to identify trends, optimizing workflows for efficiency, and implementing solutions to enhance overall performance. Strong communication skills are essential to articulate insights clearly and facilitate alignment across departments.

Directly supervise and guide two AI Ops Engineers, overseeing the full spectrum of their responsibilities, from project delivery and technical development to daily operational tasks.

Efficiently prioritize tasks by adeptly managing competing demands from various teams, utilizing a structured prioritization framework that you will both implement and refine.

Develop and deploy automation solutions and intelligent agents designed to enhance operational efficiency for both internal teams and customer-facing staff.

Maintain the operational integrity and performance of the AI tooling infrastructure to ensure seamless scalability as usage expands to support over 2,500 employees.

Stay abreast of the latest developments in artificial intelligence tools and technologies, discerning between market hype and practical applications to ensure informed decision-making and strategic implementation.

Contribute to the enhancement of AI training methodologies utilized across the organization, specifically for Engineering teams.

The technical framework encompasses a diverse array of tools, systems, and platforms utilized throughout the development lifecycle. Candidates are expected to possess hands-on experience with modern programming languages, frameworks, and methodologies, including but not limited to cloud computing, containerization, and DevOps practices. Proficiency in debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization is essential, along with a solid understanding of software development best practices and industry standards. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and efficient solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment.

Proficient use of advanced AI and agentic frameworks is required, including expertise in Claude, Claude Code, Anthropic tooling, Lang Chain, MCP, and Google ADK—or comparable agentic solutions.

Automation and prototyping expertise includes scripting, workflow optimization tools, AI-assisted development, and rapid prototyping platforms such as Tercel and Railway.

Enterprise Tooling: Implementing identity automation solutions using Microsoft Entra, managing internal platforms, and integrating systems such as Notion and HiBob to enhance operational efficiency and collaboration.

Twelve months ago, we implemented a series of automations leveraging Claude, Notion, HiBob, and Entry, all of which are currently operational in a production environment.

Our Approach

Craft, rather than merely counsel — this collaborative team delivers functional automations and agents through direct implementation.

Demonstrate tangible value initially, commencing with a team of two engineers, then scale operations based on measurable results and validated success.

A product-centric approach is essential, requiring the mindset to view internal teams as customers and develop practical, effective tooling solutions.

Assess emerging AI tools based on their tangible benefits rather than sensationalized marketing claims.

What You Need

We seek a technically proficient, product-oriented professional to drive innovation and efficiency at DAKOTA. This role will focus on developing intelligent agents and implementing automation solutions rather than constructing data models, as these responsibilities are handled by our dedicated Data Science teams. The ideal candidate will spearhead initiatives to enhance internal operations, making them both smarter and more streamlined through hands-on development and leadership of a high-performing team.
