What You’ll Do

At DAKOTA, you will assume leadership of the AI Operations team from the outset, responsible for driving delivery, expanding the team’s capabilities, and demonstrating measurable impact. Your team will develop and implement automation solutions and AI-driven agents for internal processes while serving as strategic advisors to Engineering, facilitating the seamless integration of AI into customer-facing products. We invite you to contribute to a mission that merges innovative AI technology with meaningful work, advancing digital and financial inclusion across Africa.

Your main duties will include overseeing key operations, managing project timelines, and ensuring adherence to company standards. Additionally, you will coordinate cross-functional teams, allocate resources effectively, and monitor performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Collaborating with stakeholders, you will identify opportunities for innovation while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality results within designated budgets and deadlines. Strong analytical skills and the ability to adapt to dynamic environments will be essential in this role.

Oversee a team of two AI Ops Engineers, taking full ownership of their project delivery, technical development, and daily operational tasks.

Efficiently prioritize tasks by adeptly managing simultaneous requests from various teams, utilizing a well-defined prioritization framework that you will actively contribute to creating and enhancing.

Develop and deploy automations and intelligent agents designed to significantly enhance operational efficiency and productivity for both internal teams and customer-facing personnel.

Maintain the robustness and scalability of the AI tooling infrastructure to support seamless operations as usage expands to serve over 2,500 employees.

To remain informed about the latest advancements in AI tools and technologies, evaluate their practical versus hyped applications.

Assist in enhancing AI training initiatives across the broader organization, with a focus on collaboration with Engineering teams.

We operate within a dynamic technical environment characterized by cutting-edge tools, systems, and methodologies to ensure optimal performance and innovation. Proficiency in [specific programming languages, frameworks, or platforms] is essential, along with expertise in [relevant technologies or methodologies]. Strong problem-solving abilities are required to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently, and familiarity with [industry-specific standards or practices] is highly preferred. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is a key aspect of this role, as is a commitment to continuous learning and adaptation in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

We seek expertise in AI and Agentic Frameworks, including but not limited to Claude, Claude Code, Anthropic tooling, Lang Chain, MCP, and the Google ADK (or comparable agentic frameworks).

Automation and Prototyping encompass scripting, workflow optimization tools, AI-assisted development methodologies, and rapid prototyping solutions, with deployment facilitated through platforms such as Tercel and Railway.

Enterprise Tooling responsibilities include overseeing identity automation solutions via Microsoft Entra, managing internal platform integrations, and optimizing workflows within systems such as Notion and HiBob. The role demands expertise in configuring and maintaining these tools to ensure seamless operational efficiency and alignment with organizational objectives.

Twelve months ago, we implemented automated solutions using tools such as Claude, Notion, HiBob, and Entry, which are currently operational in our production environment.

Our Approach

Here’s a polished rewrite:

This role requires active participation in development, not just advisory contributions, as we focus on delivering functional automations and agents as part of a hands-on team.

Demonstrate tangible value initially, followed by strategic expansion; commence with a team of two engineers to quantify impact, subsequently scaling resources as warranted.

A product-focused mindset involves prioritizing internal teams as key stakeholders and developing tools tailored to their needs.

Evaluate emerging AI solutions based on tangible benefits rather than promotional exaggeration.

What You Need

We seek a technically proficient professional with a product-centric mindset. While Data Science teams handle model development, this role focuses on constructing agents, deploying automations, and spearheading a team to enhance DAKOTA’s operational efficiency and speed.

At least three years of relevant professional experience is required for consideration.

Experienced with developing automation solutions through scripting, workflow tools, or AI-assisted development methodologies.

Experienced in developing agents with agentic frameworks such as Lang Chain, MCP, Google ADK, or comparable technologies.

Background in enterprise tooling, including rapid prototyping solutions (Tercel/Railway) or identity automation (Entry), as well as internal platforms, is required.

You possess a proven track record in leading and mentoring engineers, demonstrating the ability to take full ownership of a team’s performance and growth outcomes.
