To fulfill this position, the incumbent will be responsible for delivering on key objectives aligned with the organization’s strategic goals. To design and execute the Bank’s performance management strategies and policies, ensuring they enhance staff productivity, retain and motivate top talent, and align with organizational objectives, regulatory standards, and competitive market conditions. This role involves fostering a high-performance culture throughout the Bank while aligning employee contributions with business goals. Responsibilities include overseeing the full performance management framework, administering incentive and reward programs, and leveraging key data insights to inform strategic business decisions.

Oversee and execute critical duties including managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, and maintaining high standards of efficiency and productivity. Lead and mentor a team to achieve departmental objectives while fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize workflows, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align projects with organizational goals and drive continuous improvement. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress and implement corrective measures as needed. Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing clear communication, and ensuring alignment with company values and objectives.

Demonstrates proficiency in evaluating employee performance, providing constructive feedback, and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and engagement across the organization.

Execute the development, deployment, and ongoing enhancement of the Bank’s performance management framework.

Oversee the yearly performance management process, encompassing goal establishment, mid-year assessments, and end-of-year evaluations.

Oversee enterprise-level initiatives to design, implement, and maintain performance management and improvement programs through data-driven methodologies, ensuring alignment with evolving strategic priorities and organizational objectives.

Drive the design, execution, and oversight of strategic leadership development, employee growth, and talent management programs aimed at closing performance gaps stemming from staff capacity or knowledge deficiencies while enhancing overall talent acquisition, retention, and career progression initiatives.

Provide training and support to line managers and staff on performance management improvement plan PIP goals are achieved.

Establish and foster a high-performance organizational culture by implementing strategic goal alignment, conducting thorough performance evaluations, and introducing performance-based compensation programs.

Maintain uniform, equitable, and open standards in evaluating performance and delivering feedback.

Analyze performance data to derive actionable insights, driving strategic decisions in talent development, succession planning, and reward structures.

Implement institution-wide initiatives designed to cultivate and sustain a culture of high performance across the organization.

Implementing a process for tracking progression from goal setting, mid-year reviews and end of year evaluations to support individual, team and organizational performance.

Design and implement focused communication and capacity-building initiatives within the performance management framework to empower managers in accurately assessing and measuring both individual and team performance, thereby enhancing overall performance and productivity.

Conduct periodic salary and compensation surveys to ensure the Bank’ remuneration packages always remain competitive and aligned with the market and industry standards.

The individual will be responsible for overseeing governance frameworks and ensuring accurate, timely reporting in alignment with organizational policies and regulatory standards. This role involves maintaining comprehensive documentation, analyzing performance metrics, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance transparency and accountability. Additionally, the position requires a strong understanding of compliance requirements, proficiency in reporting tools, and the ability to interpret complex data to support strategic decision-making.

Prepare all necessary management and regulatory reports, including those mandated by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), in accordance with applicable standards and deadlines.

Oversee adherence to tax legislation, employment statutes, and financial compliance standards pertinent to performance management practices.

Ensure the precision and confidentiality of performance outcome records at all times.

Drive the creation and delivery of comprehensive talent analytics, encompassing key facets of talent management such as performance metrics, workforce trend analysis, succession planning, and strategic identification of critical roles, alongside additional talent-focused data insights.

Job Qualifications: Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, along with at least three years of professional experience in a related industry. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is required, as is strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential, as is the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

Professional certification in HR, or Reward Management (e.g. CIPD, GRP, CHRP-K) is an added advantage.

Work Experience

Minimum of 6–8 years’ experience in HR with at least 3 years in performance management, preferably within the banking or financial services sector

Knowledge of Kenyan labour laws, reward structures and CBK regulations is essential.
