Job Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Head of Employee Relations, Performance & Wellness, this position plays a key role in developing and implementing people strategies that foster a workplace characterized by fairness, inclusion, and engagement.
This role involves fostering strong employee relationships, upholding legal standards, managing performance, and cultivating a values-driven organizational culture.
Oversee daily operations to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, managing workflows and fostering collaboration among teams. Develop and implement strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and service quality while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Lead and mentor staff, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to streamline processes and resolve operational challenges. Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and resource allocation, optimizing expenditures to maximize value. Employee Relations:
Responsible for fostering a positive workplace culture by addressing employee concerns, mediating conflicts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws. Investigates grievances, facilitates open communication between staff and management, and develops strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention. Collaborates with HR, legal, and department heads to implement fair employment practices and resolve workplace disputes efficiently. Maintains confidentiality and acts as a neutral party to uphold organizational integrity. Requires strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and a thorough understanding of employment laws.
Facilitate the creation, analysis, and dissemination of HR policies to ensure compliance with Kenyan Labour Laws, applicable regulations, and the Bank’s core values and governance principles.
Oversee employee relations functions, such as addressing disciplinary actions, resolving grievances, addressing workplace conduct concerns, and handling appeals, while ensuring equitable treatment, adherence to established policies, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Ensure meticulous and compliant documentation of employee relations cases by working closely with HR Business Partners and line management, adhering to established record-keeping standards and regulatory obligations.
Spearhead organizational change efforts—including restructures and branch realignments—while maintaining robust employee engagement, uninterrupted operational performance, and strict adherence to regulatory standards.
Deliver prompt, actionable advice to managers to ensure equitable, uniform, and regulation-compliant management of employee issues, thereby reducing operational and reputational risks.
Serve as a panel member in disciplinary hearings, upholding due process, procedural fairness, and accurate documentation in accordance with established internal policies and relevant labor regulations.
Foster open, productive relationships with employee representatives and workplace committees, cultivating transparent communication, mutual trust, and collaborative efforts to maintain a positive, compliant work environment.
Maintain accurate and confidential disciplinary records by proficiently managing the ER tracker, ensuring all information is readily available for audits and decision-making processes.
Responsibilities include participating in the regular evaluation and revision of the HR Manual to maintain its conformity with current employment laws, regulatory standards, and emerging trends in the banking industry.
Manages employee performance through goal-setting, regular feedback, and performance reviews to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and individual development. Identifies training needs and career development opportunities to enhance employee skills and productivity. Tracks and evaluates performance metrics to assess progress and address underperformance. Collaborates with managers to implement performance improvement plans and support high performers. Ensures fair and consistent application of performance management policies across the organization.

Employee wellness encompasses a range of initiatives designed to promote physical, mental, and emotional health among staff members. These efforts aim to create a supportive work environment that enhances productivity, reduces stress, and fosters overall well-being. Responsibilities include developing and implementing wellness programs, organizing health-related workshops, and providing resources for stress management, fitness, and nutrition. Requirements involve a commitment to fostering a culture of well-being, strong interpersonal skills to engage employees, and the ability to collaborate with various departments to tailor programs to diverse needs.
Support the implementation of the Bank’s Employee Wellness Program by coordinating wellness initiatives in alignment with the approved Wellness Calendar. Engage with accredited wellness service providers, manage activity schedules, foster participation, and maintain timely and professional communication with staff.
Support the implementation of key inclusion and employee engagement strategies—such as diversity forums and employee resource groups—by organizing logistics, managing communications, and establishing feedback systems to maximize program outcomes and overall impact.
Facilitate the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, including year-end activities and various forums designed to foster collaboration, alignment, and a cohesive organizational culture.
Collaborate in the creation and execution of employee recognition programs spanning organizational and departmental levels, encompassing formal awards and peer recognition schemes, to strengthen a high-performance culture.
Create compelling and informative communication materials focused on employee wellness programs, policy updates, and engagement initiatives, ensuring they meet established internal communication standards and effectively reach the intended audience.
You will be accountable for achieving established performance objectives that are in alignment with the Bank’s HR strategy, balanced scorecard, and your individual performance targets, with a focus on delivering measurable impact and maintaining high standards of accountability.
Academic qualifications include a master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as education, curriculum development, or a related field. Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of progressive teaching experience, with a strong preference for those with prior administrative or leadership roles in academic settings. Additionally, proficiency in curriculum design, assessment strategies, and educational technology is essential, along with a commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments.
A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a closely related discipline is required.
Holds professional credentials or affiliations with recognized industry bodies, alongside a portfolio of published work demonstrating expertise and thought leadership in the field.

A minimum of two years in a relevant professional capacity is a prerequisite for this position. Candidates must possess prior experience in a similar role to be considered for this opportunity.
Proven experience as an HR generalist spanning three to four years, with expertise in employee relations, performance management, and wellness initiatives.
Proficient in Kenyan Labor Laws, ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations and employment standards.
Experienced in managing disciplinary proceedings and collaborating with employee representatives or line management to ensure fair and consistent outcomes.
Proven track record of successfully implementing or spearheading initiatives focused on enhancing employee engagement, recognition, and wellness.
