The International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICR) was established in 1994 in response to the International Conference on Population and Development (ICP) held in Cairo.
ICR Kenya, an autonomous organization, was founded in 2000.
Our work encompasses a broad range of reproductive health areas, including maternal and child health, sexual and gender-based violence, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care, and adolescent health. We also focus on enhancing services in resource-limited settings, particularly for vulnerable populations.
We implement practical intervention projects and conduct research studies, integrating rigorous analysis and evidence collection to identify best practices. Even our foundational research, including randomized controlled trials, incorporates a social and contextual dimension. Our initiatives are developed and executed in close partnership with local and national health authorities and service providers. The organization is firmly rooted in a Kenyan workforce at all levels, with a significant majority of our staff being women.
