What you’ll do

The Investment Director will serve as a key pillar within our investment team, assuming lead responsibility for sourcing deals, structuring transactions, and overseeing portfolio performance across our designated markets. Reporting directly to the Head of Fund, the Investment Director will leverage extensive experience to evaluate high-stakes, precedent-setting transactions while shaping fund strategy and mentoring junior team members.

This position is ideal for an investor who excels in uncertain conditions, is invigorated by pioneering sustainable finance and natural capital initiatives, and combines sharp analytical rigor with strong interpersonal abilities to successfully negotiate transactions and create value amid complex market dynamics.

Primary Responsibilities

Deal sourcing and pipeline development entails actively identifying, originating, and evaluating investment prospects within reforestation, blue carbon, and sustainable agriculture and land use sectors in emerging markets. Construct and sustain a robust proprietary pipeline by leveraging a network of on-the-ground connections with project developers, governmental entities, and ecosystem intermediaries. Establish and implement a stringent screening framework to assess opportunities in alignment with the fund’s financial and impact benchmarks.

You will oversee the complete investment assessment process for corporate and project-level opportunities, conducting thorough financial modeling, reviewing carbon methodologies, and performing legal, regulatory, and environmental due diligence—including community safeguards and country/political risk evaluations. Additionally, you will design and negotiate investment terms while developing investment committee materials that present a compelling, well-supported rationale for your recommendations. All investments must adhere to portfolio return targets, impact goals, and established risk parameters.

Portfolio management and value creation entail assuming active stewardship of investments following acquisition, encompassing rigorous performance tracking against key performance indicators, early risk identification, and offering practical assistance to portfolio companies as required. Collaboration with project teams is essential to bolster operational resilience, enhance carbon credit issuance results, and capitalize on subsequent value-enhancing opportunities.

As the lead for strategic partnerships, you will identify and develop pivotal alliances—such as carbon credit offtakers, co-investors, and technical or research collaborators—to enhance the fund’s investment appeal and mitigate transaction-specific risks. In this role, you will serve as a senior relationship manager, engaging with partners throughout the entire deal lifecycle.

Investor relations support involves generating precise, prompt, and analytically robust updates on deal progression and portfolio outcomes to enhance reporting and stakeholder engagement. Additionally, this role assists in fundraising initiatives by compiling compelling, evidence-based insights that demonstrate the fund’s strategic vision in practice.
