Our client, a prominent player in the telecommunications sector, is looking to appoint an Activation Team Lead.

Reports directly to the Area Sales Manager, providing regular updates on sales performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Job purpose

To conduct channel visits with the objective of enhancing retailer awareness and improving SIM and float performance, while ensuring optimal visibility and merchandising standards at point of purchase for SOS and Trash agents.

Oversee and execute a range of critical tasks, including managing project timelines, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring adherence to company standards. Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining high-quality outputs. Monitor progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to foster professional growth. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives and resolve challenges proactively. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements to mitigate risks. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting to support data-driven decision-making and transparency.

Effectively oversee the identification and recruitment of Agents, focusing on mobile money outlets and high-traffic retail stores.

Regularly conduct visits to SOS and Agents by adhering to the predetermined route and beat plans.

Provide essential business tools necessary for conducting transactions at SSO and agent outlets, along with conducting training sessions for SOS and Trash Agents on operational processes.

Provide comprehensive Anti-Money Laundering (AML) training to agents, with a specific focus on Suspicious Transaction Reporting (STR) obligations, while delivering detailed instruction on Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures as they pertain to the SIM Registration (SIM REG) framework.

Monitor and maintain float and stock coverage while ensuring agents comply with the 1.5x stock rule. Verify that SOS have sufficient stock of SIMs to handle new registrations and activations efficiently.

Merchandising involves establishing and upholding merchandising standards through the provision of necessary materials at SOS and Agent outlets.

Requirements include holding an advanced degree in a relevant field, complemented by several years of hands-on experience in a comparable professional setting. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in specific technical or industry-related competencies, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with applicable regulations, standards, and best practices is essential, along with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. Prior leadership or project management experience is often preferred.

A degree in Business, Marketing, or a comparable discipline, either at the diploma or bachelor’s level, is required.

With a demonstrated track record in van sales or a comparable sales position, you bring valuable hands-on experience in driving revenue and delivering exceptional customer service.

Holders must possess a current and valid driver’s license.

Experience

Professional candidates will have a minimum of one year of hands-on experience in sales and distribution within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or telecommunications (Telcos) sectors.
