Reporting to the Holdings Assurance Manager, this role involves executing internal audits in alignment with the established audit plan or as directed by the board or audit committee.

Key responsibilities include managing and overseeing daily operations to ensure efficiency, coordinating team activities and delegating tasks as necessary, maintaining high standards of quality and performance, developing and implementing strategic initiatives to drive growth, monitoring progress and evaluating results against established benchmarks, addressing any operational challenges or deviations promptly, fostering a collaborative work environment, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Additionally, the role requires regular reporting to senior management, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and supporting cross-functional projects to enhance overall productivity and achieve organizational objectives.

Identify and thoroughly assess governance and risk management components within the service, then develop and implement tailored risk management and mitigation strategies to address identified gaps.

Conduct internal audits in alignment with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the department’s established audit methodology.

Collaborate with the Holdings Assurance Manager to design comprehensive audit programs that align with documented procedures and industry best practices for each assigned audit project, with a focused emphasis on identifying and addressing potential risk areas.

Conduct comprehensive audit procedures on the Group’s activities by adhering to established audit frameworks aligned with the approved Annual Internal Audit Plan. Demonstrate adaptability in both the strategic planning and practical implementation of audit engagements.

Conduct comprehensive audits encompassing risk and control management to evaluate operational efficiency, financial integrity, and adherence to relevant directives and regulations throughout the entire audit lifecycle.

Thorough audits must be conducted on all Group operations, following standardized audit procedures as outlined in the approved annual audit plan. Recommendations to enhance operational efficiency may also be provided. Adjustments to the audit scope may be necessary if field conditions warrant such changes.

Independently establish the scope of internal audit engagements for assigned projects.

Foster consistent and transparent dialogue with leadership and relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and information flow.

Develop and implement innovative continuous improvement initiatives while assessing the effectiveness of existing internal control processes.

Compile sufficient audit evidence to substantiate findings and recommendations for enhancements.

The incumbent will consistently review and address business findings to ensure that only outstanding issues are included in the final report.

Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of current accounting, administrative, and internal control frameworks to assess their adequacy and effectiveness, subsequently proposing enhancements where necessary. This responsibility entails a deep comprehension of all operations within the Group, ensuring a thorough examination across its entirety.

Ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulatory mandates is essential.

Achieve performance targets aligned with departmental strategies, strategic plans, and balanced scorecards.

Enhance audit quality by incorporating data analytics throughout the planning, execution, and reporting phases to strengthen assurance processes.

Assess the effectiveness of technology controls, cybersecurity frameworks, and IT governance practices within each business unit to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards.

Perform targeted audits centered on emerging risks and newly implemented controls within key domains, including digital transformation initiatives, cloud security protocols, the integrity of ESG data, and frameworks for operational resilience.

Apply automated testing, continuous monitoring, and data-driven insights to enhance risk management strategies.

Required for consideration are candidates possessing a robust background in relevant fields, along with formal qualifications and hands-on experience in pertinent areas. Ideal applicants will have demonstrated expertise through prior roles, supported by verifiable credentials that align with the position’s demands. Proficiency in key skills and adherence to specified criteria are essential for successful evaluation.

A relevant field bachelor’s degree is required.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification specific to Kenya is mandatory for this role.

Certified professionals holding credentials such as the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) are required for this role.

A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is considered a valuable asset.

Seeking candidates with 4 to 6 years of professional experience in audit-related roles.

Demonstrates expertise in audit data analytics software platforms, such as ACL, IDEA, and Power BI.

A solid grasp of IT general controls, cybersecurity frameworks, and technology risk management is required.
