Job Purpose:

The Clinical Officer will report directly to the Deputy Director of Human Resource Management, with primary responsibility for delivering essential clinical services to employees of the Institute and their dependents as required. This role plays a vital part in promoting workforce health and well-being through accessible and timely medical care.

Seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a dynamic role within our organization. The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the field, along with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Key responsibilities include project management, team leadership, and driving operational efficiency. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are required to collaborate effectively across departments. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing strategic initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies, and delivering measurable results.

The officer’s role will encompass a range of duties and responsibilities, including:

Overseeing the routine functions and daily activities of the Clinic.

Developing the Clinic’s annual budget, operational plan, and procurement schedule represents a critical responsibility within this role.

Performing necessary minor surgical interventions as needed.

Ensuring employees and their dependents receive accurate and appropriate medical care, this role involves gathering detailed patient histories, conducting thorough examinations, formulating precise diagnoses, and recommending suitable treatment plans.

Staff are directed to the appropriate care providers and facilities to ensure dependents and employees receive suitable treatment and care.

Ensures strict adherence to established standards and protocols by overseeing and/or coordinating the dispensing of prescribed medications, thereby safeguarding accurate and compliant drug administration.

To optimize the use of medical supplies, prevent loss, damage, or wastage, and safeguard the Institute’s resources through efficient management.

Responsible for validating and endorsing invoices for received goods, confirming that the invoice total accurately corresponds to the quantity and value of the delivered items.

Responsibilities include reviewing and authorizing requisitions for pharmaceuticals, laboratory supplies, and other essential medical items to ensure seamless clinical operations.

Responsible for the authentication and validation of medical claims and reimbursement documents through the processes of signing and verification.

Planning and educating employees on diverse health topics in collaboration with pertinent government agencies to bolster their understanding.

Providing guidance and counseling to staff regarding health concerns to prevent issues from impacting the workplace.

Convene health surveys to assess the prevalence of alcohol, drug, and substance abuse among employees, thereby determining the scope of the issue and guiding subsequent interventions.

Proper management and disposal of hazardous waste are essential to prevent environmental contamination and reduce the likelihood of accidents.

Crafting clinical reports in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s established guidelines constitutes a core responsibility of this role.

The responsibility includes overseeing and maintaining the duty roster for clinic staff members.

Person Specifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

A recognized institution must award a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or an equivalent qualification.

A minimum of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) grade of C+ or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution is required.

Licensed by the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.

A current and active license issued by the Council on Chiropractic is required for this role.

Certificate in Computer Applications is required; proficiency with programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with digital communication tools are essential.

Ensure full compliance with the provisions outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Demonstrated expertise in essential competencies and technical proficiencies required for the role. Proven ability to apply specialized knowledge, analytical capabilities, and problem-solving skills effectively in diverse situations.
