Mission Description
Oversee the teams responsible for Sea Export operations originating from Kenya.
Ensure the team remains apprised of any modifications or developments while facilitating the necessary internal coordination and clearly outlining the objectives.
Assess the performance of subordinates to ensure alignment with organizational goals and identify areas for development and improvement.
Enhance the professional competencies of employees through targeted training and development initiatives.
Establish standardized procedures to ensure smooth case transfers during organizational restructuring within the team.
Develop and strengthen the Middle Office organization, cultivate specialized expertise, establish the necessary resources, and implement standardized processes to ensure operational excellence.
Ensure the organization’s resources, expertise, and infrastructure align with the objectives established by the Manager.
Consistently evaluate and update the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to maintain alignment with customer service objectives.
Oversee the execution of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) by the Management Office (MO) team, conduct quality audits—both internal and external—and ensure continuous alignment with the approved action plan through vigilant monitoring.
Coordinate and monitor operations.
Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality service to all clients at all times.
Mitigate and oversee potential risks to ensure organizational stability and compliance with relevant standards.
Establish and maintain a robust risk control framework to mitigate potential threats and ensure organizational resilience.
Ensure that all measures are taken to minimize any additional or extra charges incurred.
Deliverables must align with both mutually agreed client KPIs and internal performance benchmarks to ensure full compliance with contractual obligations and organizational standards.
To execute all necessary measures ensuring minimal disbursement exposure, including adherence to compliance classification protocols, accurate billing and expense posting, and proactive risk management—with particular emphasis on debit-related risks.
Collaborate with both Front Office and Back Office teams—including Legal and Insurance—to support the customer disputes resolution process, while proactively implementing measures aimed at eliminating the recurrence of underlying issues.
Ensure that adequate insurance coverage, encompassing both our own resources and contracted providers, is secured in collaboration with the Back-Office Support (Insurance) team.
Provide updates and reports to management regarding operational performance, strategic initiatives, and any critical issues requiring attention.
Critical customer identification involves assessing cargo characteristics, shipment volumes, financial stability, and key account status to establish tailored operational monitoring protocols as necessary.
Gather and analyze data regarding operational risks—including customs-related challenges—and compile a comprehensive monthly report for the Manager.
Craft and distribute a monthly performance report to the Manager, summarizing the department’s progress and anticipated trends for the upcoming months while evaluating the influence of key market dynamics, including customer behavior and competitive landscape.
Profile
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field to analyze financial data, develop strategic initiatives, and oversee operational processes. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills, along with proficiency in MS Office and financial modeling tools. Responsibilities include financial forecasting, budget management, market research, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational growth. Prior experience in a business-related role is preferred.
A relevant diploma in Clearing & Freight Forwarding or an equivalent qualification in a closely related discipline is required.
With over five years of experience in a high-volume customs and freight company, you have managed sea export operations in a senior capacity.
