We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to oversee and optimize operational, professional, and business functions within our organization. Assist in crafting and implementing the Legal function’s strategic initiatives to drive organizational objectives forward.

Monitor and assess the regulatory landscape in Kenya to ensure the business remains fully compliant with all applicable laws and legal obligations.

Maintain a comprehensive grasp of regulatory matters and the governing framework that shapes business operations, ensuring the creation of well-informed strategies that empower the organization to address and navigate regulatory constraints effectively.

Overseeing litigation initiated by or against the company as directed by the Head of Legal, Kenya, this role encompasses the development and implementation of strategic case approaches.

Assist the Head of Legal, Kenya in overseeing entity management and maintaining compliance with best practices in corporate governance for the client’s entities within the region.

Collaborate across various departments on business projects and strategic initiatives to evaluate, track, and proactively identify potential threats, thereby mitigating legal risks and ensuring the successful attainment of organizational goals.

Professionally draft, negotiate, and review contractual documentation while designing and implementing standardized formats to enhance operational efficiencies across the Legal sub-function.

Perform essential administrative functions within the department to maintain resource availability, ensure the seamless exchange of information, and keep records current.

Enhance the Legal department’s control environment to align with organizational objectives.

You must facilitate seamless cross-functional and interdepartmental communication to ensure all stakeholders remain well-informed and to collaboratively address shared challenges.

Requires demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, guide, and support teams toward achieving organizational goals. Must possess strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges effectively. A minimum of three to four years of post-qualification legal experience is required.

Preferred candidates should possess a minimum of two to three years of experience within high-volume legal environments.

Experienced in overseeing and coordinating litigation processes, ensuring adherence to legal procedures and deadlines while managing case documentation and communication with stakeholders.

It would be advantageous to possess experience in corporate secretarial practices and governance-related issues, particularly involving board affairs (CPSK).

A comprehensive understanding of pertinent local substantive and procedural laws within key domains such as Commercial Law, labor regulations, land-related statutes, factory and manufacturing compliance, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) legislation is essential.

Exceptional proficiency in negotiation, as well as written and verbal communication, is required.

Possesses robust strategic and analytical capabilities, coupled with sound judgment to drive effective decision-making.

Demonstrates independent decision-making, guides team members effectively, and collaborates seamlessly with colleagues and senior leadership.
