Purpose
The Senior Accountant in Asset Management oversees the accurate accounting of all assets, maintains the fixed assets register, and ensures comprehensive risk management for assets. Additionally, the role handles accounting for accruals and prepayments, tax filing and compliance, and financial reporting in adherence to the applicable IFRS standards. The position further encompasses the management of payables and expenses, strengthens internal controls, assists with audits, and contributes to budgeting and forecasting processes in alignment with company guidelines.

Latitude collaborates directly with the Finance Manager while interfacing regularly with Projects, Operations, and other internal departments. Additionally, the role engages with external stakeholders, including suppliers and auditors, to facilitate seamless operations.

Deliver comprehensive accounting services for all asset categories, including fixed assets, intangible assets, and IFRS 16 lease arrangements, ensuring strict adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) throughout the process.
Verifying fixed assets and affixing asset tags are essential tasks to maintain an accurate, real-time asset register in partnership with the operations team.
Responsibilities include monitoring and reconciling accruals and prepayments to ensure precise recognition timing and compliance with established accounting policies.
Oversee the asset management operations, encompassing the maintenance of the asset register, generation of schedules, preparation of reports, and execution of reconciliations.
Prepare the audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation for assets, accruals, prepayments, and tax-related items. Assist in the development of budgets, financial forecasts, and management reporting.
Ensure strict adherence to all tax regulations, encompassing VAT and Withholding Tax (WHT) filings, alongside performing monthly reconciliations and maintaining accurate internal ledger updates.
Coordinate the renewal of asset insurance in a timely manner to effectively manage asset-related risks.
Perform treasury operations and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for the holding entity.
Record and defer commissions in accordance with contractual obligations and anticipated revenue recognition.
Handle any additional responsibilities or duties as directed by management.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or a closely related discipline from an accredited educational institution is required.
A member in good standing of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (IC PAK) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ARCA).
Possesses comprehensive expertise in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), with prior exposure to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) serving as an additional asset.
With at least six years of dedicated experience in a high-volume finance setting, you will bring a deep expertise in asset management and compliance to this role.
Proficiency at an expert level in Microsoft Excel would be considered beneficial.
