The Position

Reporting directly to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire practical exposure to Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. This structured internship offers hands-on experience across essential ICT domains, such as technical support, systems administration, network oversight, data handling, and cybersecurity measures. Collaborating closely with the ICT team, the intern will participate in daily operational tasks, contribute to active projects, and uphold the organization’s objectives by maintaining efficient, secure, and dependable ICT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities and Obligations:

The successful candidate will be accountable for executing a comprehensive range of duties, including overseeing daily operations, managing team productivity, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Additionally, the role demands meticulous attention to detail in reporting, adherence to established protocols, and fostering a collaborative work environment to drive efficiency and innovation.

Deliver technical support to employees regarding common software and hardware challenges.

Provide support for the setup, configuration, and ongoing upkeep of both hardware and software systems.

Provide assistance with diagnosing and resolving network issues while ensuring ongoing system functionality and stability.

Oversee the progress of ICT equipment repairs and maintenance to ensure timely completion and adherence to standards.

Deliver comprehensive ICT support for meetings, events, and field activities to ensure seamless technological operations.

Support the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Security Operations function by actively monitoring potential threats, enforcing established security policies, assisting in audit processes, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

Document all unresolved issues and promptly escalate them to senior ICT personnel for resolution.

Additionally, carry out any other tasks as directed by the ICT supervisor to support operational needs and ensure the effective functioning of the department.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration. Additionally, a minimum of five years of professional experience in a related industry is essential. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, is required. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are also necessary to thrive in this role. Prior leadership experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Individuals currently enrolled in or who have recently graduated from a Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related degree program are encouraged to apply.

Proficient in both Unix and Windows-based systems, along with a solid grasp of fundamental networking principles.

Proven expertise in networking infrastructure, PC maintenance, Microsoft Windows Server administration, Microsoft Active Directory management, desktop operating systems, as well as Cisco routing, switching, and voice technologies is essential.

Effective communication and collaboration abilities are essential, including the capacity to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders across various levels.

Demonstrates a strong capacity for continuous learning and adaptability to emerging technologies.
