To qualify for this role, applicants must hold a business-related degree—preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Co-operative Management—alongside a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience. Additionally, candidates should possess recognized professional qualifications, such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. This position is offered on a five-year contract basis.

Performs a variety of duties and fulfills key responsibilities that include overseeing daily operations, coordinating team activities, and ensuring adherence to established protocols. Collaborates with cross-functional departments to drive project completion, resolve operational challenges, and maintain high standards of efficiency. Develops and implements strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, optimize workflows, and support organizational goals. Conducts regular performance evaluations, provides constructive feedback, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Maintains accurate records, ensures compliance with industry regulations, and reports on key performance metrics to senior leadership.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the incumbent will oversee all operational departments, including Finance, Marketing, and Business Development, as well as Customer Services, Projects, ICT, Credit, and Risk management.

Job Profile

Propel the Society’s strategic goals forward by championing and executing the established Vision and Mission, ensuring alignment with overarching objectives.

Formulation and implementation of policies and strategies are essential for the Society’s efficient operations.

Furnishing the Board of Directors with strategic guidance and leadership, the incumbent will oversee the formulation of policies and ensure adherence to compliance standards.

Develop and maintain a robust, transparent collaboration with the Board, fostering clear and consistent communication regarding the assessment of financial and impact-related performance relative to established milestones and objectives.

Partner with the Board to enhance and execute the Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment of budget allocations, staff resources, and organizational priorities with the SACCO Mission and Vision.

Offer visionary leadership and strategic guidance to executive teams while cultivating the ongoing growth and administration of a high-performing, streamlined organization; implement robust decision-making frameworks to empower the SACCO in realizing both its immediate and long-term objectives.

Continuously lead an aggressive membership recruitment drive.

You will oversee and synchronize all strategic plans and performance objectives, ensuring cohesive alignment and execution across the organization.

Carrying out day to day business of the SACCO-Including regular support supervision of staff at work stations and ensure regular rotations of staff.

The individual will craft and present to the Board of Directors comprehensive long-term strategies, business plans, and annual operating budgets, while also designing and implementing robust internal monitoring mechanisms and control systems and procedures.

Facilitating seamless communication between the Board and staff is essential to maintain alignment and transparency.

Overseeing human resource functions such as designing organizational structures, implementing staff appointments, managing employee welfare, coordinating training initiatives, facilitating industrial relations, handling separation processes, and establishing robust management succession plans.

Delivering ongoing enhancements to the quality and value of services offered by the SACCO remains a critical focus.

To uphold the SACCO’s financial and operational performance targets consistently, while also facilitating the quarterly submission of internal audit reports and their respective recommendations.

Ensuring the effective implementation of SACCO policies and programs is a key responsibility, requiring careful oversight and adherence to established guidelines. This role involves monitoring progress, addressing any deviations, and guaranteeing alignment with organizational objectives while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Ensuring adherence to SACCO policies, regulations, and applicable government laws is a fundamental responsibility of this role.

Guiding the SACCO in the successful execution of its current Strategic Plan and providing quarterly progress updates are key responsibilities of this role.

Person Profile

A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a co-operative program is required for this role.

Management or any other relevant field of study.

As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA(K)) and an active member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (IC PAK), the ideal candidate will embody professional excellence and adherence to regulatory standards.

With a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience, including at least five years in a specialized capacity, you will bring a depth of knowledge to the role. This opportunity requires a proven track record of success in your field, demonstrated through hands-on contributions and leadership in prior positions.

A seasoned professional with extensive senior leadership experience within a financial institution.

Ensuring adherence to Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution, the selected candidate will uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct in all professional engagements.

A master’s degree in Finance or Accounting will be considered a valuable asset.

With a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society, candidates should possess a strong understanding of cooperative principles and financial services.

Management experience would be considered a valuable asset.
