POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting aspects of projects, guaranteeing precise transaction processing, reconciliations, payroll administration, and adherence to statutory and donor mandates. The position assists with financial reporting, procurement activities, audits, and the administration of project finances in alignment with established organizational policies and procedures.
Oversee and execute the full range of duties associated with this role, which include managing project timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Provide strategic direction to enhance operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders at all levels to align expectations and foster productive collaborations. Monitor performance metrics, analyze data trends, and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve established objectives. Serve as a key decision-maker in resolving complex issues while balancing resource constraints and business priorities.
Process financial transactions associated with office and project expenditures while ensuring the maintenance of an organized and efficient filing system for all financial records and project documentation.
Accurate documentation of financial transactions is essential to track the financial health of project activities, with all accounting records being regularly updated, reconciled, and fully substantiated.
Ensure accuracy by meticulously reviewing payment requests and reconciling the associated data with the financial management system.
Maintain, monitor, and document all financial transactions associated with payments, fund transfers, partners, and projects, including prepaid, payable, receivable, and payroll accounts, as well as accruals, ensuring strict adherence to FADE’s established policies and procedures.
Oversee the organization and upkeep of all payment vouchers, accounting ledgers, and relevant supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with established financial protocols.
Verify the precision of accounting entries and confirm the sufficiency of accompanying documentation.
Compile monthly payroll data and produce payroll reports, as well as associated by-product reports detailing deductions.
Ensure all statutory deductions, including NAIF, NSF, PAYE, and HELD, are accurately submitted and fully compliant with regulatory requirements.
Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and submit them for review and approval no later than the fifth day of each month.
The incumbent will oversee the project office’s procurement needs in alignment with established procurement policies and in full compliance with AIDS and DRAG guidelines.
Support the Finance Officer in compiling and finalizing financial reports for all projects executed by Fondazione L’Albert Della Vita / The Tree of Life in Kenya.
Facilitate the compilation and maintenance of inventory records.
Collaborate with the Finance Officer to draft and finalize agreements with suppliers, partners, and service providers.
Engage in the execution of audit procedures to ensure compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field along with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in the industry. Proficiency in [specific software/tool] and strong analytical skills are essential. A recognized institution must confer a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a specialization in Accounting or Finance, Economics, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation at an advanced level, or an equivalent and relevant qualification.
Demonstrates strong proficiency and in-depth knowledge of computer applications, including Excel and accounting software packages.
We seek candidates with a minimum of three years of professional experience in finance or accounting.
Demonstrates a solid grasp of financial and accounting principles, policies, standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
Professional experience involving community development initiatives, projects supported by International Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), or those funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AIDS) would be considered a valuable asset.

The selected candidate will receive a gross monthly salary between KES 60,000 and KES 70,000, contingent upon their qualifications and professional background. Comprehensive health insurance coverage will be granted following the satisfactory completion of the three-month probationary period.
