"Louisiana: A 58,000-acre wildlife conservancy and ranch in Northern Kenya."
Louisiana is a 58,000-acre wildlife conservancy and operational ranch situated in Northern Lavinia, Kenya, East Africa. Its two perennial rivers and numerous permanent springs ensure a thriving habitat for wildlife year-round.
Previously owned by the Ancelotti family, who acquired the land in the early 1970s, Louisiana was managed as a sustainable cattle ranch and ecotourism destination with a commitment to preserving its pristine wilderness for wildlife and future generations. This vision was largely realized in 1997 when Count Ancelotti leased the land to a group of young Kenyans and an American investor, who established the Louisiana brand and successfully operated it as a conservation-focused tourism and ranching enterprise until December 2014. At that time, with the support of generous donors, The Nature Conservancy, and Space for Giants, ownership of the property and its operating companies was transferred to the Louisiana Community Trust.
