Responsibilities

We specialize in crafting, executing, and sustaining comprehensive website strategies, encompassing all phases of development and ongoing management to ensure optimal performance and user experience.

Develop and enhance a forward-thinking web communication strategy for the corporate website, its associated child/affiliated sites and pages, as well as the Knowledge Repository, ensuring seamless alignment with the organization’s mission, strategic goals, and brand identity.

Oversee the development, upkeep, and enhancement of the organization’s web platforms built on Drupal and Space, guaranteeing their continued functionality, ease of use, and technical efficiency while maintaining seamless interoperability and integration.

Establish compatibility and technical benchmarks to guarantee seamless site accessibility across UNEP web platforms for all users, irrespective of language preferences.

Lead technical teams, including web developers, designers, and service providers, in executing and refining solutions and enhancements for web platforms and the Knowledge Repository.

Deliver technical assistance to internal stakeholders and end-users on website functionality, Knowledge Repository navigation, and content management system utilization.

Analyze and resolve technical challenges, including bugs and errors, to uphold the seamless functionality of UNEP’s web platforms and Knowledge Repository.

Work collaboratively with internal IT support teams or external vendors to resolve advanced technical issues, manage required services and subscriptions, and spearhead the implementation of new applications.

Business analysis involves evaluating processes, identifying requirements, and proposing solutions to enhance organizational efficiency, while quality assurance encompasses systematic activities to ensure products and services meet specified standards.

Perform business analysis, process mapping, and requirements gathering to assess the needs and priorities of internal stakeholders and establish business requirements for websites, campaign sites, and the Knowledge Repository.

Transform business needs into precise application features, detailed specifications, comprehensive project documentation, and structured work plans.

Conceptualize innovative products and solutions by leveraging design thinking methodologies and prototyping techniques to bring ideas to life.

Act as the central liaison for internal stakeholders, with responsibility for ensuring that the web platform and Knowledge Repository’s content and functionality remain aligned with business objectives and overall strategies while being consistently updated across languages.

Collaborate effectively with graphic designers, UX/UI specialists, and content creators to ensure uniform visual identity, intuitive usability, and cohesive branding throughout the website.

Deliver expert training sessions to team members, content creators, and website users on content management best practices, CMS operations, website protocols, and template usage to foster awareness of how digital platforms contribute to improved user engagement and the expansion of UNEP’s audience base.

Developing and overseeing content strategies, along with their ongoing management, is a core responsibility of this role. This entails meticulously planning, curating, and optimizing content to align with organizational goals and audience needs. Additionally, the position involves coordinating content creation, ensuring consistency in messaging, and evaluating performance metrics to refine strategies continuously. Strong analytical and creative skills are essential to drive engagement and achieve measurable outcomes.

Develop and execute a robust web content strategy that supports organizational goals and resonates with the intended audience across web platforms and the Knowledge Repository. Establish streamlined workflows and a scalable content management system to oversee the development, implementation, editing, and translation of pages and features with precision and efficiency.

Sourcing stop-tier content for the website is essential, guaranteeing accuracy, compelling engagement, SEO optimization, and strict adherence to brand guidelines.

Ensure consistent branding, theming, and template compliance by performing routine quality control checks to uphold uniformity in presentation across all web pages, including standardized fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layouts.

Monitor feedback diligently and address it effectively by refining current sections and spearheading the creation of new, specialized webpages.

Craft data-driven digital marketing strategies—both organic and paid—to amplify messaging and foster engagement centered on the triple planetary crisis and its associated campaigns.

Develop and execute strategic plans for multichannel digital campaigns, encompassing search engines, paid search on Google and Bing, and YouTube, while providing overall oversight to ensure alignment with objectives.

Performance tracking and enhancement: continuously evaluate system performance metrics, identify inefficiencies, and implement corrective measures to optimize overall functionality and productivity.

Develop a comprehensive measurement framework aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of web platforms, the Knowledge Repository, web pages, and campaigns while managing ongoing monitoring and performance reporting.

Utilize analytics tools to track and evaluate key performance indicators of the web platform, including traffic patterns, user engagement levels, and conversion rates.

Conduct thorough data analysis to uncover meaningful trends, pinpoint areas requiring enhancement, and seize opportunities to elevate user experience, boost traffic, and achieve key business objectives.

Manage the reporting process, delivering performance insights on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, as well as for targeted campaigns.

Develop and execute optimization strategies informed by data-driven insights, including A/B testing methodologies, search engine optimization enhancements, and user experience improvements.

Perform comprehensive market research and trend analysis to uncover actionable insights that enhance the effectiveness of web initiatives and marketing campaigns.

Remain informed about the latest advancements and innovations in digital marketing to ensure strategic relevance and competitive advantage.

Gathers and examines data to detect emerging trends and recurring patterns, delivering insights through visual representations such as graphs, charts, tables, and reports via data visualization techniques. This facilitates strategic planning, informed decision-making, and clear presentation and reporting through evidence-based findings.

Educational attainment is a fundamental prerequisite for this role, necessitating a degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution. Candidates should possess a minimum of a bachelor’s qualification, with advanced degrees or specialized certifications viewed favorably. Proficiency in core academic subjects, including mathematics, science, or humanities, is essential, depending on the specific domain of the position. A strong background in overseeing library or knowledge platforms, particularly with the technical administration of repository software such as Space, is essential.
