We seek a seasoned Red Seal-certified Plumbing Specialist to join a large-scale high-rise accommodation project in Nairobi, Kenya. This position encompasses the installation, rigorous testing, commissioning, and quality assurance of domestic water, drainage, firefighting, irrigation, swimming pool, and specialized plumbing systems.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational efficiency. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and performance across all assigned functions. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and drive sustainable growth. Maintain rigorous adherence to established policies, procedures, and industry regulations while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress and implement corrective measures as needed. Prepare detailed reports, analyses, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders. Mentor and coach team members to cultivate talent, optimize performance, and achieve collective goals. Lead project execution from inception to completion, managing resources, timelines, and budgets with precision.
Responsibilities include analyzing and comprehending architectural, structural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) drawings with precision.
Install hot and cold water supply systems, as well as drainage, soil, waste, and vent systems.
Install sanitary fixtures, pumps, tanks, filtration systems, and booster systems in accordance with project specifications and applicable regulations.
Undertake the installation and maintenance of subsurface drainage systems as well as specialized plumbing infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Install, assemble, and configure irrigation systems, wet risers, sprinkler networks, jacuzzi systems, and pool piping to meet established specifications and safety standards.
Perform pressure assessments, drainage evaluations, and system start-up procedures to validate operational readiness and functionality.
Maintain adherence to all applicable British Standards, local regulatory requirements, and OSHA safety regulations.
Requirements
A valid Red Seal Plumbing Certification is required for this role, demonstrating your proficiency in plumbing systems and adherence to industry standards. You must possess at least five years of practical experience in plumbing, with a proven track record in both residential and commercial settings. Responsibilities include diagnosing plumbing issues, installing and repairing pipes and fixtures, ensuring compliance with building codes, and maintaining detailed records of all work performed. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently are essential, along with excellent communication to liaise with clients and team members effectively.
Possesses a minimum of five years of specialized expertise in the construction of high-rise structures or commercial buildings.
Requires in-depth expertise in MEP coordination and plumbing system design, installation, and maintenance to ensure seamless integration and operational efficiency. This role demands proficiency in interpreting blueprints, resolving clashes, and adhering to industry standards and regulatory codes. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of optimizing plumbing layouts and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, compliant building systems.
Proficiency in firefighting techniques and specialized water systems is desirable.
Possessing project experience in an international setting serves as a beneficial qualification.
