Under the supervision of Lead, Waste Management, the consultant will undertake the following tasks;
Collect good practices in solid waste management in Africa covering the topics stipulated in Tunis Action Guidance through Waste Wise Cities and ACCP networks
Participate in and contribute to the ACCP Associate Member Workshop to showcase SDG 11.6.1 monitoring survey reports inviting both ACCP Members and Associate Members
Summarise ACCP Associate Members’ contributions to ACCP
Provision of necessary information of WaCT for data harmonization
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Statistics, Chemistry, Environmental Management, or in a closely related field is required.
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of two years’ experience in municipal solid waste management or a related field with extensive knowledge and experience in waste data collection is required.
Excellent writing and communication skills and the ability to analyse data are required
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is desirable.
Experience in the United Nations or other international development agencies is regarded as an asset.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English is required. Working knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable.
