Urban Mobility and Geographic Information System Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities 

The Project individual contractor will assist the work of the Urban Mobility Team in the Urban Basic Services Section by providing the following: 

Support capacity building efforts in the fields of sustainable mobility with a focus on spatial analysis and mapping;  
Support monitoring and tracking of the impact of the projects of the urban mobility team;  
Support the data collection, analysis and development of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans incl. the creation of land use/ transport network plans, transport modelling, accessibility analysis etc.   
Support the review and drafting of mobility related policies and strategies;  
Support research and development of knowledge products with a focus on sustainable, inclusive and low carbon urban mobility; among others.

Qualifications/special skills

A degree with 0.5 years of experience in the field of sustainability, spatial analysis and geoinformatics, or urban development is required. A high school diploma with two additional years of experience in the same field will be accepted in Lieu of the degree.”
Excellent analytical and communication skills. The ability to draft a wide selection of written communication and to articulate ideas in a clear and concise manner. Research skills are an asset.
Ability to work well in a team whilst also having the capacity and initiative to work independently is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required
