We are in search of a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to manage the comprehensive financial operations of CIS Kenya’s accounting division. This position entails guaranteeing precise bookkeeping, adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements, prompt reporting, and responsible stewardship of organizational assets. Additionally, the role involves delivering strategic financial guidance to assist the Governing Council and the Finance & Audit Committee.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties, including the development and implementation of strategic plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and drive sustainable growth. Monitor team performance, provide constructive feedback, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Manage project timelines, allocate resources efficiently, and mitigate potential risks to ensure timely delivery. Additionally, maintain open communication channels to address stakeholder concerns and uphold transparency across all operations.

Financial Management & Bookkeeping: Oversee daily casebook operations, perform monthly bank reconciliations for payables and receivables, and administer donor funding accounts with QuickBooks.

Prepare quarterly expenditure reports, develop strategic cash flow status statements, and conduct detailed budget comparisons to ensure financial accuracy and transparency.

Statutory & Tax Compliance: Ensure precise submission of PAYE, VAT, NSF, NAIF, and Withholding Tax (WHT) returns through the KRA online portal and ETFMS platform.

Ensure organizational preparedness for year-end audits, manage the fixed asset register, and liaise with external auditors to facilitate seamless audit coordination.

Strict adherence to the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 must be maintained when handling confidential financial and stakeholder information.

What We Are Looking For

A Degree in Accounting or Finance is required, along with full qualification as a CPA (K) or progress toward ARCA certification.

Requires a minimum decade of direct accounting experience, preferably within an NGO, development finance, credit sector organization, or audit firm, coupled with comprehensive familiarity of Kenyan tax regulations.

Technical Proficiency: Extensive expertise in Excel and financial reporting, complemented by strong proficiency in both QuickBooks Online and Desktop versions.
