Role Overview
We are seeking a journalist to join our Africa content production hub, working closely with the text writer and the visual journalism teams and journalists across Africa and the world. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to text explainers, features, long-form features, and analysis within a vibrant, digital-first environment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Write and develop text explainers, long-form features, and analysis pieces that resonate with African audiences.
Collaborate with data journalists, the text writer, and the visual journalism team based in the Africa content production hub to enhance storytelling 
Contribute to radio, TV, and social media platforms as required, both pre-recorded and live.
Produce digital content for social and digital platforms in line with the BBC’s commitment to digital-first journalism.

Are you the right candidate?

Excellent standard of written and spoken English
Understanding of African news, current affairs, and global news stories.
Good news judgment and a broad knowledge of issues and trends affecting African audiences.
Experience of writing text stories and features for news and media outlets 
Demonstrable and sound editorial judgement. 
Experience in broadcasting and reporting on radio, TV, and social media platforms.
Experience producing digital content for social and digital platforms.
A solid understanding of the BBC’s editorial guidelines and values.
Bilingual language expertise: A full command and up-to-date knowledge of a key World Service African language.
