The Senior Communications Officer, Campaigns, Africa Regional Office (ARE), will spearhead the conception and execution of cohesive communications campaigns tailored to prioritize key audiences, advancing the foundation’s strategic objectives throughout Africa.

The successful candidate will spearhead comprehensive campaign planning and implementation to enhance the foundation’s brand credibility and advance key priorities. In a matrixed structure, you will collaborate extensively with teams in the ARE, Communications Division, and Global Policy & Advocacy (GPA) to develop campaigns that are data-informed, locally relevant, and globally coherent. This position demands the capacity to lead interdepartmental efforts without formal authority, leveraging influence to unite stakeholders around a unified campaign strategy.

This position will focus on designing and implementing audience-centric campaign strategies and plans, crafting detailed creative and content briefs, mapping out audience journeys, and optimizing distribution channels to maximize reach. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including advocacy leads, country communication leads, content specialists, channel strategists, and media planners, to ensure cohesive alignment between strategic direction and tactical execution. Furthermore, you will work in tandem with the Measurement and Insights team to establish key performance indicators, facilitate message and creative testing, and extract actionable insights to enhance overall campaign effectiveness.

The role will be situated in Nairobi, Kenya, and will report directly to the Deputy Director of Content, Campaigns, and Digital for the Africa region.

What You’ll Do

Develop and oversee integrated campaign strategies, ensuring cohesive planning across multiple channels and platforms to maximize impact and reach.

Spearhead the creation and implementation of cohesive campaign strategies that support ARE priorities, emphasizing precise audience targeting, compelling narrative development, and well-defined objectives.

Leverage audience insights, research findings, and ongoing monitoring to develop strategic, data-driven campaign plans that effectively engage target demographics.

In collaboration with relevant teams, develop comprehensive strategies for channels, content, and engagement across owned, earned, and paid media platforms.

Compose campaign briefs and design strategic planning frameworks to direct seamless collaboration across all relevant functions.

Develop and oversee campaign-level financial plans to ensure optimal allocation and utilization of resources.

Assist in developing and refining ARE’s comprehensive communications and campaign framework, encompassing strategic planning methodologies and established operational cadences.

Campaign Implementation

Execute comprehensive campaign management from initiation to completion across key markets and channels, maintaining strict adherence to strategic objectives and established deadlines.

Conduct comprehensive post-campaign evaluations and document key insights to guide upcoming strategic initiatives.

Develop and strengthen the empirical foundation for campaign strategies, enabling informed decision-making processes.

Your Experience

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, marketing, or a closely related discipline is required.

With at least eight to ten years of senior-level expertise, you will have led integrated communications or marketing campaigns across global, regional, or multi-country settings—preferably in fast-paced, dynamic environments such as agencies or in-house roles.

Proven capability to convert audience insights into strategic, results-driven campaigns that drive engagement and conversion.

Demonstrates a strong track record of seamlessly blending paid, owned, and earned media channels to execute cohesive campaigns.

Proficiency in navigating the digital, social, and media ecosystems spanning various African markets is essential.

Accomplishes objectives through effective teamwork and persuasive communication, particularly within cross-functional or matrixed organizational structures.

Demonstrates superior written and verbal communication abilities, adept at distilling intricate concepts for varied audiences.

Collaborative experience with external partners, agencies, and stakeholders is required.

Experienced in driving projects to completion and overseeing initiatives with precision, adept at collaborating seamlessly across diverse global locations, internal teams, and external stakeholders.

Proficient in measuring, analyzing, and tracking the performance of campaigns through relevant metrics and analytics tools.

Fluent proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential.
