The objective of this role is to facilitate the achievement of organizational goals by executing specific duties and responsibilities. The position involves designing and executing the Bank’s performance management strategies and policies to enhance staff productivity, attract and retain top talent, and ensure alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and market competitiveness. The role requires establishing a high-performance culture throughout the Bank and fostering the connection between organizational goals and employee by overseeing the complete performance management framework, administering incentive and reward systems, and leveraging key data to inform strategic business decisions.

Design, implement, and enhance the Bank’s performance management framework to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.

Oversee the yearly performance management process, which encompasses establishing objectives, conducting mid-year assessments, and finalizing year-end evaluations.

Oversee organization-wide initiatives to implement and maintain performance management and improvement programs, utilizing a data-driven methodology to establish priorities that align with ongoing strategic objectives.

You will play a key role in shaping, executing, and overseeing robust leadership, employee development, and talent management strategies aimed at addressing performance disparities stemming from staff capacity or knowledge deficiencies, while also enhancing overall talent acquisition, retention, and career progression initiatives.

Deliver comprehensive training and ongoing assistance to line managers and staff to ensure the successful attainment of Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) goals.

Establish and maintain a high-performance organizational culture by implementing well-defined goals, conducting impactful performance evaluations, and designing incentive-based compensation systems tied to individual and team achievements.

Maintain uniformity, impartiality, and clarity in the evaluation of performance ratings and the provision of feedback.

Develop and implement focused communication and capacity-building initiatives within the performance management framework to equip managers with the necessary skills to accurately assess and track individual and team performance, ultimately driving enhanced performance and productivity.

Perform regular salary and compensation surveys to maintain the Bank’s remuneration packages at competitive levels and in alignment with prevailing market and industry benchmarks.

The individual will be responsible for overseeing governance frameworks and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. This includes developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and controls to align with regulatory standards. Additionally, the role involves monitoring compliance, identifying risks, and preparing comprehensive reports for stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex regulations are essential for success in this position.

Craft regulatory and management reports in compliance with applicable requirements, such as those stipulated by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), as and when necessary.

Maintain adherence to all applicable tax laws, labor regulations, and financial compliance standards governing performance management practices.

Drive the development and delivery of comprehensive talent analytics, encompassing key facets of talent management such as performance metrics, workforce trend analysis, succession planning, and identification of critical roles, along with other pertinent talent-related insights.

The position necessitates a minimum of five years’ experience in a related field, along with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are imperative for success in this role.
