JOB SUMMARY
The Africa Communications Assistant will contribute to advancing a strong narrative about Habitat’s initiatives throughout Africa, adhering to established organizational communications standards and brand guidelines while collaborating closely with key internal stakeholders. This entails delivering communications support for partnerships, advocacy efforts, and regional programs. Additionally, the position will partner with country office communications representatives to facilitate the implementation of communications strategies and associated materials.
The Assistant will work in close partnership with colleagues at the Africa Area Office and the global communications team. Within the Africa communications team, responsibilities will include supporting and overseeing digital and social media engagement through regional channels to highlight Habitat’s work in Africa effectively online.

In collaboration with the Africa programs team, you will help develop and execute regional narratives designed to enhance fundraising efforts, advocacy initiatives, and program priorities, while ensuring full alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
Assist in the collection of content to craft engaging narratives and materials that highlight impact and address the priorities of essential stakeholders, including fundraising, advocacy, and program teams.
Support website content management and oversee regional social media channels to enhance audience engagement, increase brand visibility, and drive sustainable growth.
Assist in upholding Habitat’s brand standards by collaborating on the review and editing of various communications materials—including stories, photos, and videos—to maintain consistency and high-quality output.
Collaborate in organizing regional communications initiatives, encompassing media interactions, partnership visibility efforts, and campaign launches.
Assist in the strategic planning and implementation of communications for regional events, encompassing branding initiatives, professional photography, and post-event narrative development.
Minimum qualifications for consideration include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, along with at least three years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of meeting deadlines, collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams, and adapting to evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development is also required.
A bachelor’s degree in communications or a closely related discipline is required.

Proven expertise in providing assistance to communications initiatives within the African region is required.
Proficiency in content management systems, including Drupal and WordPress, is advantageous.
Proficiency in HTML is considered advantageous.
