AMI seeks a proactive and skilled Financial Inclusion and Fintech Expert (Consultant) to create practical, accessible, and impactful learning materials and resources. These tools will empower young women entrepreneurs in Kenya to grasp, utilize, and confidently engage with financial and fintech solutions available in the market.

Oversee a wide range of critical duties, including the management of daily operations, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures, and fostering a productive and compliant work environment. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive efficiency, innovation, and high performance across teams. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as needed. Lead strategic planning initiatives to align organizational goals with actionable objectives, while mentoring staff to enhance their professional growth and skill development. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal standards, mitigating risks and maintaining operational integrity. Serve as a key liaison between leadership, employees, and external stakeholders to promote transparency, accountability, and alignment with company values.

Develop the Fintech Knowledge Layer by assuming full responsibility for establishing the foundational fintech expertise within the Digitize initiative.

Design practical learning tools that encompass requirements for accessing finance, borrowing practices, loan limits, repayment terms, and sustainable financing strategies.

Perform detailed market scans to identify and evaluate fintech solutions and financial service providers in Kenya that cater specifically to agri-food micro-enterprises.

Prospective partners will be sourced and evaluated to compile a curated directory of trustworthy financial institutions and innovative fintech providers for inclusion in the program.

Establish definitive selection criteria tailored to evaluate fintech solutions, ensuring they align with the financial constraints and opportunities relevant to young female entrepreneurs operating within the agriculture value chain.

Engage directly with fintech providers to obtain comprehensive insights regarding their product offerings, functionality, and qualification criteria.

Develop a meticulously organized product directory featuring an intuitive interface to present pertinent financial products and services in a streamlined and accessible manner.

Develop safeguarding advisory memorandums that systematically outline risks, responsible usage guidelines, and key warning indicators associated with predatory lending practices.

Guarantee gender responsiveness in all finalized deliverables, ensuring they are both practical and easily comprehensible for entrepreneurs, particularly those with limited financial or digital proficiency.

Collaborate with the team to synthesize outputs into a standalone, accessible e-booklet, which will feature fintech profiles and guidance on responsible borrowing.

Requirements

With extensive experience in Kenya’s digital financial services and fintech landscape, you possess deep domain expertise and a demonstrated history of success within the MSME sector.

Proven expertise in developing functional toolkits, e-books, and educational learning materials specifically tailored for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Proven expertise in research and analytical skills—capable of autonomously developing detailed profiles, conducting comprehensive mapping, and performing rigorous evaluations of financial products and services.

Proven skill in distilling intricate financial terminology into straightforward, engaging, and practical insights tailored for audiences without specialized expertise.

Developing training or learning content uniquely suited for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with a solid grasp of the operational hurdles encountered by micro-enterprise owners.

Possesses knowledge of gender-responsive programming or initiatives focused on women’s economic empowerment (WEE).

Proficiency in agribusiness or agri-food value chains within the Kenyan context serves as a beneficial credential.

Prior experience in donor-funded or development-oriented initiatives within the financial inclusion sector would be particularly beneficial.
