The Deputy Manager, Communications will deliver strategic communications guidance and technical expertise to eight BRAD International Microfinance (BI MF) entities across Asia and Africa. This role will involve assisting in the formulation and execution of communications strategies, crafting engaging content and campaigns, and developing compelling stories to deepen stakeholder engagement, amplify visibility, and clearly convey BI MF’s impact to internal, national, and global stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Entity support entails facilitating the development and execution of annual communication plans for BI MF’s eight microfinance entities. You will deliver sustained technical assistance, direct support, and strategic direction to enhance program delivery, boost operational efficiency, and foster clear communication with clients, staff, and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate with country teams to ensure entity-level communications are in harmony with BI MF’s overall strategies, brand identity, and messaging framework.

Provide communications support for BRAD International’s flagship “Accelerating Impact for Young Women (AIM)” program, specifically its financial inclusion component. Design and execute internal and external communication campaigns, multimedia content, and design materials to equip staff with the tools needed to effectively convey the AIM program’s objectives and progress to participants and relevant stakeholders.

Support entity communications teams in crafting, producing, and distributing news releases, FAQs, briefing notes, and other media materials to bolster the visibility and credibility of BI MF entities within their national and regional contexts. Collaborate closely with country leadership teams to pinpoint potential reputational risks and assist in developing proactive and reactive communications strategies.

Develop compelling content across various platforms—such as websites, social media channels, newsletters, and print materials—to engage diverse audiences. Craft and refine human interest narratives, case studies, video scripts, blogs, fact sheets, capacity statements, annual reports, and other knowledge-sharing and advocacy resources. Coordinate with teams to uphold an editorial calendar, ensuring consistent, high-quality content production aligned with program objectives and deadlines. Oversee monthly and annual content workflows to maintain relevance, accuracy, and strategic impact.

Design and execute cohesive communication campaigns informed by data, research, and programmatic evidence, leveraging creative and motivating content. Assist in organizing and executing the BI MF Leadership Retreat, learning workshops, and webinars to enhance the visibility and impact of BI MF’s initiatives. Maintain uniformity in messaging, branding, and positioning across global campaigns and events, including Financial Inclusion Week, International Women’s Day, World Youth Day, and similar engagements.

Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aimed at elevating BI MF’s presence, fostering deeper audience engagement, and solidifying its position as an industry thought leader across multiple digital platforms. Continuously track emerging social media trends, analyze performance metrics, and evaluate audience behavior to refine content and adjust strategic approaches. Collaborate with entity communications focal points to curate and sustain cohesive social media content calendars while offering expertise on branding consistency, tone of voice, and optimal content formats.

Collaborate with both internal and external design teams to develop visually compelling materials that strictly adhere to BRAD’s branding and visual identity guidelines. Oversee the creation of graphics, infographics, visual narratives, and other creative assets tailored for digital and print platforms. Exhibit strong operational proficiency in design software including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva.

Provide innovative and strategic assistance in crafting social and behavior change communication materials. Collaborate closely with internal and external design teams, product, impact, and social performance units, as well as other key functional leaders at BI MF. Verify that SBCC strategies are participatory, contextually relevant, gender-responsive, and consistent with programmatic insights and evidence.

Craft and refine organizational messaging and positioning strategies, producing supporting talking points and speeches for senior leadership. Prepare written reports for significant grants, such as the AIM program, and assist with proposal development as needed.

Learning and collaboration: Partner with BRAD International and BRAD’s global communications teams to maintain unified messaging, brand consistency, and alignment across social media calendars, event schedules, and major campaign initiatives. Additionally, serve as the primary point of contact between country-level communications teams and central communications. Capture and disseminate key lessons, best practices, and impactful success stories from BI MF entities throughout the organization to drive continuous improvement.

Supplier and partner engagement involves cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with creative agencies, photographers, filmmakers, graphic designers, and event management firms to secure essential services for communication campaigns and events. This role includes overseeing the acquisition of communication-related services and products while ensuring full compliance with BRAD’s procurement and safeguarding policies.

Provide consistent coaching, mentorship, and hands-on support to communications staff and designated focal points across Asia and Africa. Develop and deliver targeted trainings and workshops focused on strategic communications, creative and technical writing, content production, storytelling, foundational design principles, and digital communications. Cultivate an environment of ongoing learning and innovation within the broader communications community of practice, encouraging the exploration of emerging tools, platforms, and methodologies.

Ensuring the protection and security of all individuals within the organization is a primary duty. This entails vigilant oversight to prevent any form of harm, abuse, or neglect, while strictly adhering to relevant safeguarding policies and legal obligations. Regular training and awareness initiatives will be undertaken to uphold these standards, fostering a secure environment for everyone involved.
