Your Role

The Senior Communications Officer for Campaigns at the Africa Regional Office (ARE) will spearhead the conception and execution of cohesive, audience-centric communications campaigns designed to amplify the foundation’s strategic objectives throughout Africa.

The successful candidate will oversee the complete campaign lifecycle, from strategic planning to implementation, to enhance brand credibility and advocacy for key initiatives. Collaborating within a matrixed structure, you will engage extensively with teams in the ARE, Communications Division, and Global Policy & Advocacy (GPA) to guarantee campaigns are informed by deep insights, locally relevant, and globally cohesive. This position demands a proven capacity to lead multifunctional teams in the absence of direct reporting lines, leveraging influence to unite stakeholders around a unified campaign strategy.

This position entails crafting campaign strategies and plans centered on audience engagement, designing creative and content directives, mapping audience journeys, and optimizing distribution channels to maximize impact, followed by post-campaign analysis. Collaboration will span key stakeholders across advocacy, country communications, content, channel, and media teams to synchronize strategic vision with tactical delivery. Furthermore, you will collaborate with the Measurement and Insights team to establish KPIs, facilitate message and creative evaluations, and derive actionable insights to enhance overall campaign efficacy.

The role will be situated in Nairobi, Kenya, and will fall under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Content, Campaigns, and Digital – Africa.

What You’ll Do

Develop comprehensive campaign strategies and integrated planning initiatives to align marketing efforts with overarching business objectives. Formulate data-driven approaches to target key audiences, optimize resource allocation, and maximize campaign effectiveness through cross-channel coordination. Ensure seamless integration of marketing, sales, and operational plans while adhering to budgetary constraints and performance metrics. Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to refine messaging, leverage market insights, and drive measurable outcomes that support long-term growth and brand positioning.

Craft integrated campaign strategies in alignment with ARE priorities, ensuring they are audience-centric and supported by compelling narratives and well-defined objectives.

Leverage audience insights, research findings, and ongoing monitoring to develop strategic, data-driven campaign plans.

Craft integrated strategies for channels, content, and engagement across owned, earned, and paid media in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Create comprehensive campaign briefs and structured planning frameworks to steer collaborative execution across diverse teams.

Develop and oversee budgets at the campaign level with precision and strategic oversight.

Collaborate in the development of ARE’s comprehensive communications and campaign framework, encompassing strategic planning methodologies and established operational cadences.

Responsibilities include designing and refining measurement frameworks, conducting in-depth evaluations of performance metrics, and leveraging insights to optimize processes, programs, or systems. Your Experience

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, marketing, or a closely related discipline is required.

With a minimum of eight to ten years of senior-level expertise, you will have led and strategized integrated communications or marketing campaigns across global, regional, or multi-country settings, preferably within fast-paced and dynamic environments such as agencies or in-house roles.

Proven capability to convert audience insights into well-defined, results-driven strategies and campaigns.

Demonstrates a strong track record of seamlessly blending paid, owned, and earned media channels to drive cohesive campaign execution.

Possesses a comprehensive grasp of the digital, social, and media ecosystems spanning diverse markets across Africa.

Demonstrates exceptional ability to collaborate and influence effectively within complex, matrixed organizational structures.

Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in both written and verbal communication, adept at distilling intricate concepts into clear, accessible insights tailored to varied audiences.

Proficiency in collaborating with external partners, agencies, and stakeholders is required.

Accomplished in driving projects to completion and overseeing complex initiatives, with proven expertise in aligning efforts across diverse geographic regions, cross-functional teams, and external collaborators.

Proficiency in measurement methodologies, data analytics, and performance tracking for campaigns is essential.

Fluent proficiency in English, both in written and oral communication, is required.
