Job Purpose

This role involves designing and executing the Bank’s performance management strategies and policies to enhance staff productivity, foster talent retention and motivation, and ensure alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and market benchmarks. The position is accountable for cultivating a high-performance culture across the Bank and aligning organizational goals with employee productivity by managing the comprehensive performance management framework, administering incentive and reward programs, and leveraging data analytics to inform strategic business decisions.

Oversee a comprehensive range of critical duties to ensure operational excellence and team productivity. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance performance, drive efficiency, and achieve organizational objectives. Lead cross-functional teams through clear communication, delegation, and mentorship to foster collaboration and professional growth. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and project milestones to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures where necessary. Maintain adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and best practices while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Serve as a liaison between senior leadership and departmental teams to align goals, streamline workflows, and ensure seamless execution of business strategies.

Drives organizational success by overseeing and enhancing employee performance through structured evaluations, clear goal-setting, and continuous feedback. Implements performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress, identify skill gaps, and align individual contributions with strategic objectives. Conducts regular assessments, including mid-year and year-end reviews, to assess achievements, recognize high performers, and address underperformance constructively. Collaborates with department leaders to develop tailored development plans, mentorship programs, and targeted training initiatives that foster career growth and operational excellence. Maintains accurate documentation of performance records, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

Oversee the development, deployment, and ongoing refinement of the Bank’s performance management framework to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.

Oversee the annual performance management process, encompassing goal establishment, mid-year assessments, and year-end evaluations.

Direct oversight and leadership of enterprise-level initiatives are required to design, implement, and sustain performance management and improvement programs grounded in data analytics, ensuring alignment with evolving strategic priorities and organizational objectives.

You will play a key role in shaping, executing, and overseeing impactful leadership, employee development, and talent management strategies designed to close performance gaps stemming from capacity or knowledge deficiencies within the team. Additionally, you will contribute to optimizing talent sourcing, management, and mobility programs to enhance organizational effectiveness and workforce capabilities.

Deliver training and guidance to line managers and employees to ensure the successful attainment of Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) objectives.

Develop a culture of high performance by implementing strategic goal setting, conducting thorough performance evaluations, and establishing compensation structures that reward performance.

Maintain consistent, equitable, and transparent performance evaluations and feedback mechanisms.

To interpret performance data and extract meaningful insights, facilitating strategic talent development initiatives, succession planning strategies, and compensation-related decisions.

Design and implement company-wide initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of excellence and peak performance across all levels of the organization.

Developing a structured process to monitor advancement from goal establishment through mid-year assessments and year-end evaluations, thereby enhancing individual, team, and organizational performance.

To facilitate targeted communication and capacity-building initiatives within the performance management framework, empowering managers to accurately assess and measure individual and team performance while driving optimization of performance and productivity.

Perform regular salary and compensation surveys to maintain the Bank’s remuneration packages at competitive levels, ensuring alignment with prevailing market and industry benchmarks.

Oversee governance frameworks and ensure accurate, timely reporting maintaining compliance and transparency across the organization. Develop and implement governance policies, procedures, and controls to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Monitor organizational performance, analyze key metrics, and prepare comprehensive reports for executive leadership and stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance governance practices and drive continuous improvement in reporting standards.

Produce management and regulatory reports as mandated (e.g., by the Central Bank of Kenya) whenever necessary.

Ensure strict adherence to tax legislation, employment legislation, and financial regulatory frameworks pertinent to performance management processes.

Ensure meticulous documentation of performance results while safeguarding data integrity and confidentiality.

Drive the development and delivery of comprehensive talent analytics, encompassing key facets of talent management such as performance metrics, workforce trend analysis, succession planning frameworks, and identification of critical roles, among other strategic talent-related insights.

The position necessitates a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or mathematics, accompanied by a minimum of three years of professional experience in a related discipline. Key qualifications include proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or C++, as well as familiarity with software development methodologies and tools. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
