MAJOR FUNCTIONS

The Finance Specialist delivers critical operational and analytical assistance to the Secretariat Finance Business Partnering team. This role encompasses the coordination of routine financial tasks, the management of trackers and financial systems, and the support of period-end and peak workload demands, all while upholding data accuracy and integrity across financial platforms. Additionally, the position aids the team in grant management cycle-related responsibilities by ensuring precise data maintenance, thorough documentation, and streamlined process support throughout the stages of grant setup, monitoring, reporting, and close out.

These include executing core functions critical to operational efficiency and team objectives, while ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. Coordinate and manage finance backlogs, task lists, and trackers to ensure team priorities are delivered punctually.

Offer consistent operational assistance to finance team members, with a particular focus on high-demand periods including month-end closings, forecasting activities, and strategic planning initiatives.

Provide coverage for colleagues in their absence, maintaining the seamless execution of standard financial procedures.

Assist in compiling, arranging, and maintaining essential documentation, reports, and operational files to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

The Department of Financial Systems and Data Integrity is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and security of financial data across the organization. This role involves maintaining robust internal controls, validating financial information, and safeguarding sensitive records against unauthorized access or corruption. Key responsibilities include overseeing financial system integrations, conducting regular audits, and enforcing compliance with regulatory standards. Requirements include proficiency in financial software, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of data governance principles. Accurately input, update, and manage financial data within designated finance systems and trackers, ensuring alignment with team-provided information.

Perform standard modifications, corrections, and reclassifications in accordance with documented protocols.

Assist in reconciling discrepancies and ensure accurate financial alignment through thorough follow-up on any identified variances.

Providing assistance with reporting and analysis tasks, this role involves generating and interpreting data to support decision-making processes. Responsibilities include compiling accurate reports, analyzing trends, and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner. PROFILE

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field is required. Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is necessary. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are a must. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are also required. Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices is expected.

A bachelor’s degree or a comparable qualification is required, along with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.

Proven expertise in processing and interpreting extensive datasets, along with the ability to generate meaningful insights and deliver data-driven recommendations.

Craft concise analyses that deliver distinct perspectives and valuable insights.

A background in Financial Analysis, preferably with experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), is required.

Proven proficiency in handling financial data, spreadsheets, and information systems with confidence and accuracy.
