Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the Finance Assistant will manage branch credit reports, reconcile debtors, process receipts, handle banking transactions, and oversee petty cash operations.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties critical to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Develop, implement, and monitor strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive project completion, resolve challenges, and meet established deadlines. Maintain meticulous documentation and reporting to track progress, performance metrics, and key milestones. Provide leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Collaborate in executing the organization’s credit control policy initiatives to ensure compliance and effective financial management.

We are responsible for preparing and distributing monthly commission and debtor’s statements and addressing incoming inquiries regarding outstanding accounts from intermediaries.

Implement automated reminders on accounts to guarantee full and timely payment of outstanding debts, ensuring complete follow-through by all relevant intermediaries involved.

Duties include escalating unpaid debts to external collection agencies, overseeing legal proceedings as necessary, and submitting relevant information to the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) when required.

Collect premiums on a monthly basis through automated debits.

Professionally tracking and following up with long-overdue debtors, and where feasible, evaluating their ability to settle outstanding balances,

Responsibilities include investigating bounced checks, promptly contacting clients to secure replacements, and submitting a monthly report summarizing findings and actions taken.

Verify remittances, including RTGS, EFT, and IPS, and ensure timely receipting within 24 hours. Additionally, oversee daily receipting processes and the banking of all collected premiums to maintain accurate financial records.

Each week, contact intermediaries in person or by phone to follow up on collections and reconciliations, and then compile and submit a detailed report.

Who We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; minimum 3–5 years of progressive responsibility in a similar position; proficiency in industry-standard software and tools; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organizational and time-management skills; excellent written and verbal communication abilities; proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results; familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, or best practices; capacity to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required for this position.

Progress towards obtaining a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ARCA) certification, or a Certificate in Credit Control Management is essential for this role.

A minimum of two years of pertinent professional experience is required.
