Role Purpose
As a Senior Associate within Busra’s Farm team, you will collaborate closely with the Engagement Director to oversee the execution of robust research and advisory initiatives targeted at donors, governments, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders engaged in food security, climate adaptation, and agricultural market systems. This role focuses on applying behavioral science to address pressing challenges in food systems, smallholder agriculture, and climate resilience across the Global South.

Required
Requires 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in research, advisory, or program design positions, with a strong emphasis on food systems, agriculture, or climate resilience within sub-Saharan Africa or similar environments.
A demonstrated mastery of qualitative research methodologies, including in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, thematic analysis, and synthesis, coupled with extensive fieldwork experience in low-resource environments.
Possesses a proven track record in cultivating and overseeing high-level client and partner relationships with unwavering confidence, articulate communication, and a polished, professional demeanor.
Demonstrated expertise in successfully spearheading intricate initiatives involving diverse stakeholders, guiding them from initial planning through to final execution.
You possess exceptional analytical and synthesis capabilities, adept at transforming complex qualitative data into a clear, well-supported argument.
You must possess strong proficiency in both written and spoken English, with the ability to tailor communication effectively for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A relevant bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Agricultural Economics, Public Policy, or a related field is required.

A relevant field of study culminating in a Master’s degree is required.
With a background in applying behavioral science—whether through formal methods or practical experience—to agricultural extension initiatives, climate adaptation strategies, or food value chains, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of these domains.
Proficiency in quantitative methodologies and data analysis software such as State, R, or Python is required, along with the ability to interpret quantitative results even in cases where you are not the lead analyst.
Skilled in applying experimental or quasi-experimental methodologies—such as randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or difference-in-differences designs—in leadership or collaborative research roles.
Established networks within the East or West African food systems and climate finance sectors are leveraged to enhance collaboration and innovation in these critical areas.
