POSITION SUMMARY:

The Protection Associate is responsible for delivering structured case management services to refugees and asylum seekers experiencing psychosocial distress. This position involves conducting assessments, developing case plans, making referrals, and ensuring consistent follow-up to guarantee individuals receive timely, confidential, and appropriate support. Additionally, the Associate will play a key role in enhancing integrated, client-centered case management systems within HIS programming while integrating MHPSS principles into broader protection interventions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The role involves executing a range of critical duties, including overseeing key projects, managing daily operations, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards. Responsibilities encompass collaborating with cross-functional teams, analyzing performance metrics, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency. Additionally, the position requires maintaining compliance with industry regulations, preparing comprehensive reports, and providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership. The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a similar capacity. Proficiency in data analysis tools, project management software, and excellent communication capabilities are also mandatory.

Perform comprehensive intake assessments and vulnerability screenings to determine client needs, then design tailored case plans accordingly.

Facilitate prompt referrals to suitable services and conduct continuous follow-up to track advancements and evaluate results.

Document all case-related information within the designated case management system, ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality protocols and data protection regulations; prepare and submit comprehensive reports to support informed programmatic decision-making.

We are responsible for maintaining and periodically reviewing service mapping and referral pathways to enhance integrated case management.

Proactively assess and determine individuals in need of advanced mental health support, then facilitate seamless connections to suitable care providers.

Incorporate foundational psychosocial support principles into case management practices to uphold a trauma-informed and client-centered framework.

Engage in proactive outreach efforts to pinpoint individuals facing vulnerabilities and streamline their access to comprehensive case management services.

Facilitate community-based systems to securely identify and refer individuals requiring assistance.

Facilitate mental health and psychosocial awareness initiatives aimed at encouraging help-seeking behavior while combating stigma.

Work collaboratively with protection teams to deliver unified, comprehensive assistance to vulnerable individuals, with particular attention to those impacted by violence, child protection threats, and other safety-related issues.

Develop and sustain productive collaborations with partners, community organizations, and service providers to enhance and optimize referral systems.

Craft comprehensive and punctual reports detailing case management activities, emerging trends, challenges encountered, and identified service gaps.

Analyze evolving client requirements and assist in enhancing program effectiveness and strategic response planning.

Ensure adherence to HIS policies regarding safeguarding, accountability to affected populations, and data protection.

We facilitate the training and skill development of staff and community stakeholders in essential case management practices, emphasizing safe handling procedures and adherence to ethical guidelines.

Execute all additional responsibilities and assignments as directed by management, encompassing tasks beyond the primary role as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, as is the ability to analyze complex data and derive actionable insights. Strong communication skills are required to articulate findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate a track record of problem-solving and a commitment to continuous learning in a dynamic environment.

A degree in psychology, sociology, social work, community development, or a closely related discipline is required.

Minimum of one to two years of professional experience in case management, specifically within Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) or protection-focused programming, is required.

Preferred candidates should have prior experience collaborating with refugees or other vulnerable populations.

Possesses a strong understanding of case management fundamentals, the IAS Minimum Standards for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings, and established safeguarding policies and procedures.

Experienced with Accountability to Affected Populations standards and practices.
